Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Rumor: More eShop only Switch games from Nintendo in 2019

Emily Rogers, a well known insider on ResetERA who correctly reported most of the Switch specs, hinted at Labo's reveal, and correctly warned us that 2018 would be a quieter, more port heavy year for Switch, is at it again. This time, regarding Nintendo's first party Switch lineup for 2019. In a post on ERA lamenting about the lack of small, eShop only games from Nintendo, Rogers simply replied "Stay tuned for next year. You will be pleasantly surprised".

Keep in mind this is a rumor, or vague tease if you will, and Rogers has gotten some things wrong before. But she seems very confident in this one.

Considering everything else she's gotten right about the Switch so far, it's safe to say 2019 will be the year more Snipperclips and Box Boy type games will come from Nintendo in 2019 for the Switch. I really like it when Nintendo puts out games like these, it provides a nice buffer between their big releases, so can't wait to see what will come of that.

Of course, She's gotten some things wrong before, but so have other credible insiders. Roger's can only go by what her sources tell her, so not everything she says is 100% accurate, which she even admitted before.

Was Emily Rogers also the one who thought that Splatoon Refresh would release on Switch day one and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as well? With the Switch being $250? Or were some of those Laura Kate Dale's info? I can't keep the bullshit straight!

Anyways, if you look at how Nintendo released so much eshop oriented content on the 3DS, this is almost not even a prediction.

I believe most of the launch game rumors came from LKD. Emily said she heard Splatoon was coming to Switch (which it did), but I'm not sure if she said it'd be at launch.

Well good on them I guess. I won't buy but if it helps with sales good on them.

Was that how it went down? From what I remember Laura Kate Dale and Emily both were 99% sure that Splatoon would be a port, more specifically one named Refresh, and that it would come out way earlier in the Switch's life. I do remember that one of them created a Switch rumor chart on the day of the January reveal, and on that they just put "Splatoon", which seemed like obvious backtracking in case it ended up being a sequel (which people could tell it was as early as the October teaser where some of the models were different).

Maybe they predicted Splatoon before the October trailer, but even then that's one win and many losses on that particular game. Eh, it just seems like even the best leakers are pretty inconsistent. Nothing against them really, but I think people focus too much on the wins and not enough on the losses (or rather how general these wins can be).

It's possible that they assumed it was a port from what little they saw of it. Just like how Ultimate was originally rumored to be a Smash 4 port before eventually being shown as a new game. Like I said, Rogers can only go by her sources, and they may not always tell the whole story.

It helps that more eshop games is a safe prediction too. We actually had a lot of those on the 3DS and that had less digital sales.
