Forums - Gaming Discussion - SNES vs PS1 Classic Emulator Comparison

I found this rather interesting that a inferior product (SNES) actually outperforms the superior product (PS1) with running the same game.

I don't know this Youtuber or take his videos for granted, but if this is true it would be disappointing for the PS1 fans for putting up with what looks to be a product that doesn't represent the PS1's quality.

Nothing interesting about a video which has already been called out for being inaccurate.
Stop posting misleading videos guys

That is news to me. What is inaccurate about this comparison? I am curious?

Because the PS1 video isn't what the game looks like on the ps 1 classic . Multiple ppl with the ps classic have already stated this .

I dunno, judging by DF's analyst it seems to look the same for them as well.

Play at 8:14 and 16:18 see for yourself.

It was originally a member of DigitalFoundry who claimed the video you posted was misleading.

I wasn't aware of that, any chance you can link me the source so I can have a read?

A comparison that should not exist since natively snes mini does not play ps1 games. If it were to compare performance, they should unlock both and use the same emulator.

ive been on my phone and carrying stuff around for the last 30 or so minutes, so getting links took a while

Thank you, I just read it.

Interesting stuff.

DF Quote - This video is inaccurate. I've done the numbers on the PSC. It does not run *THAT* poorly. It's bad but there's something wrong with this guy's captures. Those initial flybys don't run that poorly.

So basically there still saying its bad, and with this comparison above, it seems the SNES isn't having any issues what's so ever.

This just shows how bad the emulator used by the PS1 classic is.
Even if their system is a tiny bit stronger than the snes mini, a hacked snes mini + retro arch out performs the PS1 classic.

But this is a apples & oranges type of approch since both systems arnt running the same software (differnt emulators).

TL-DR :  Sony didnt do a good job when they choose the emulator for their mini console.

There is no discussion to be have here because the video is not representative of anything.

but thats not the PS1 classic being represented.

I see your point Twintail, however the PS1 Classic still looks nothing like the emulation of the SNES classic even if you showcased the real thing, its still going to look very bad in comparison. The only argument I can see is that its not the SNES Classic on the left showcasing the game.

If you watch DF's analyst, there not that far different from each other when looking at the PS1 Classic and what ever version this video is using. Heck they look the same to me, but my eyes are not the best anymore.

LMAO, imagine if someone bring SNES classic time travelling to the 90's . Nintendo would have win

Yep, Sony cut corners left and right to charge their fanbase a premium price for a substandard mini console.  If they had done it right, current and former PlayStation systems owners would have been lining up to buy it day 1.  But, they chose to go the super cheap route unfortunately.
