This is a good sign IMO. While ports and multiplatform titles are great, I think exclusives help give a console a unique identity, they are a big deciding factor in which system you should buy for your gaming needs. Switch lends itself well to exclusives since the detachable Joy-Con combined with its portability, led itself well to experiences no other console, let alone mobile device can do nearly as well. I think you should expect some more third party exclusives in 2019.

I 100% agree, and I've been saying this for a while now.  Third party games take time to make, which is why we've seen mostly ports up until now.  Expect the first crop of third party exclusives in 2019 and an even bigger crop in 2020.

Why can't third party create something unique for Switch hardware which is quite different from competition. That's what I been missing so far, not some third party inferior ports.

Why can't third party create something unique for Switch hardware which is quite different from competition. That's what I been missing so far, not some third party inferior ports.

They can, it's just that nowadays having so many platforms makes no sense to limit software to a singular hardware, when you can make it so it works on most platforms. The only real hardware exclusives (as in, games that could only work on one unique type of hardware) are either very niche projects, motion control family friendly titles and VR games.

Exclusives are cheaper for a single platform and can be helped through the door by the 1st party studios. This allows for diversity that third party spread outs do not have. 

See the dearth of diversity beyond that.

To be fair some 3rd party exclusives wouldn't exist if its case you talking about, because there some games that exist just because Sony, MS or Nintendo found them.

On other hand, timed exclusive is worst thing in industry.

Who knows? As long as the projects earns more than the cost of the port and licensing, why shouldn't Xbox fans enjoy it, if they want to? Also, bigger instalbases would mitigate the risk of trying new ideas, so why would it hurt diversity?

Those games pretty much sold one million copies each on the 360. Even if that seems to not be a good enough amount nowadays (which is worrying, one million copies sold is a really important amount) they did not lose money, they got a good chunk of profit from their investment, even if that money was not market changing. If they had gone multiplat, they would have done even better.
