Forums - Movies & TV - I'm more excited for Godzilla King of Monsters than Avengers End Game

Avenger's End Game really only has Star Wars 9 as a top-grossing film competitor for 2019. However, Godzilla King of Monsters is the only big budget movie in 2019 that is truly new and awe-inspiring.

With Avengers EG you get literally nothing new. We get the relatively obvious conclusion with the same characters and abilities we've seen for over a decade. Even Captain Marvel will be old news by the time this movie hits theaters. The simple fact is that while it will be a great movie, it will be another super hero trope.

Godzilla King of Monsters is something truly new. For the first time ever we'll have a fully modern FX Godzilla + Rodan + Mothra + King Ghidorah + the possibility of a few other monsters. While these have been shown before in older movies and they have fought before, this is truly a new and unique story. This is truly a first for the super-modern iterations with new and fascinating takes on their personas and abilities.

This is the truly big movie of 2019. Godzilla of 2014 was the Return of the King, 2019 is the King's Reign!

But wouldn't it always be a monster trope movie given with it's impending sequel you again know deep down that it will all be ok as the hero has to survive?

It was a much better trailer that is for sure. The Godzilla-trailer was truly epic. They could have done the dumb thing trailers do and hidden the monsters in shadows and quick cutaways, but instead they are like people know what they look like, let's show them the spectacle

The trailer looks fantastic!

I dont see how there were talks about new Godzilla vs new King Kong; King Kong is just so tiny compared to all of the Godzilla monsters still and would just get squished.

Did you see Hideaki Anno's Shin Godzilla?

Trailer was definitely better, End games trailer was meh. Brightburn looks Awesome AF too though!

King Kong will have to be much larger by the time their movie launches in 2020. Keep in mind that Kong in Skull Island movie was not fully grown; a child.

True, but Godzilla is 350ft (while other monsters in that trailer looks bigger) while King Kong is only at 100ft.  Not sure how much bigger King Kong can grow but I still think it wont be big enough to match :/

Same here. Honestly, Marvel films have kind of plateau-ed for me. I know they’re going to be good, but nothing incredible that will have me counting down the days until the next one comes out. Godzilla: KotM, on the other hand, has me counting the seconds until I can see it. Every other movie in 2019 could suck, but if KotM is good, I will be satisfied for 2019.

Trailers. The trailer for Independence Day was fantastic.....I had hope for Godzilla 2014. It thought it was barely OK. Barely. I thought Kong: Skull Island was garbage, and it was also a precursor to this movie. Definitely looking forward to End Game more. To each their own though. I hope it's good.
