Really sad that after 5 years of waiting, we still aren't getting Blood Dragon 2, after Michael Biehn teased a sequel. Even worse is that we're getting a post-apocalyptic game, an over-saturated setting. Out of all of the good options on the latest official Far Cry setting survey, this was the one they chose to do next?

  • A Far Cry game in remote Alaska about surviving extreme wilderness
  • A Far Cry game in a futuristic, sci-fi setting on another planet
  • A Far Cry game set in the Vietnam war during the 1960s
  • A Far Cry game set in the cocaine trafficking jungles of Peru
  • A Far Cry game where you can fight against or join vampires
  • A Far Cry game in the Spaghetti Western style set in the late 19th century Americas
  • A Far Cry game that is set during a zombie outbreak
  • Blood Dragon 2: A sequel to Blood Dragon with more Rex Power Colt
  • A Far Cry game set in a Mad Max style post-apocalyptic world
  • A Far Cry game in the present day on a Jurassic Park style island of dinosaurs
  • A Far Cry game based on the world of Shangri-La from Far Cry
I will still play it because I like Far Cry, but this is quite disappointing.

My guess is that it is an expansion to Far Cry 5 rather than a full-fledged game

Shinobi, an insider and one of the admins on ResetEra, confirmed it is a full game. That matches with the roughly 1.5 year release schedule that the Far Cry series has been on the last few years:

  • Holiday 2014- Far Cry 4
  • February 2016- Far Cry Primal  (14 month gap)
  • March 2018- Far Cry 5 (25 month gap, but was originally scheduled for a Fall 2017 release before getting delayed, which would have given it about an 18 month gap)
  • Holiday 2019- Far Cry post-apocalyptic spinoff (~18 month gap)

That being said, it appears that it will re-use the Far Cry 5 map, in much the same way that Primal re-used the Far Cry 4 map (the shape and terrain of the map). But it will likely be a full priced $60 game like Primal was, rather than a $20 standalone DLC like Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon was.

If this is true, I can already hear all of the FarCry 76 jokes coming.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Entering Bethesda's yard I see although now is as good a time as any to do so tbh.

They already are on the comments for the trailer. People saying that Ubisoft is going to show Bethesda how it is done, lol.

Considering i think Bethesda as a developer get far more praise than they deserve i wouldn't be surprised

Will this be Far Fry 6 or a spinoff like Primal?

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Oh oh.

So a sequel in an oversatured setting, post Fallout 76 release too ... ouch ! They would just need to announce that it is multiplayer-only with permanent internet connection and you would get a straight combo here.
