I wouldn't call it ambitious since er are entering the biggest month of the year for console sales.

Last year's sales for next week are 168K. The Switch should be comfortably up.

Last year's sales below.

Week 49 = 164.908 (this is the Smash week)
Week 50 = 221.210
Week 51 = 269.684
Week 52 = 134.519
Week 1 2018 = 146.006

You just switched from saying Smash should do this to it can do those numbers because of the time of year. My response was to your belief Smash will move a lot of console and nothing more. It is an ambitious line of thinking (that means your specific thought expressed). I do not believe Smash will sell a lot of consoles; however, it is quite possible that the time of year has a big affect on sales next week.

I don't think anything worth mentioning released in week 49 last year so we should be able to see what kind of boost Smash brought to the Switch by comparing next week's number to last year's.

Yeah I  pretty sure the main game for this point last year was Xenoblade and I'm sure that would have pushed less systems than Smash is about to.

I overestimated last week, but I was spot on this week. Now things get really difficult.

Of course it didn't flop, but it has a lot of ground to make up to come even close to the other big Pokemon games/remakes/whatever.

Except for the fact it doesn't. And ironically the games are making more revenue then some of those games on the list

Of course it didn't flop, but it has a lot of ground to make up to come even close to the other big Pokemon games/remakes/whatever.

This is where people have to make up their minds imo. Firstly the excuse people made about the Lets Go games was they're just spin offs and not mainline series games. That was the big anti push against the game, its not a REAL pokemon game, just a casual spin off title. But then the same people that said its not a mainline game, just a spin off title, now compare it to the mainline series, the same mainline series they said its not even apart of.

I failt to grasp that logic overall.

Either way I'm happy the games proved everyone wrong in the end

Of course it didn't flop, but it has a lot of ground to make up to come even close to the other big Pokemon games/remakes/whatever.

Meanwhile, it is overperforming X/Y in otherseas markets so it's certainly not a fair comparaison. Technically it is selling on par with 3rd version such as Emerald and Crystal and above all other spin-off games. Game is doing really good, just not crazy mainline core good.

I mean, this isn't the thread to discuss overseas markets otherwise there would be talk of how PS4 is dominating the global sales. This is the Japan sales thread.
