Just started playing Smash. I'm loving the spirit board, and I feel like this is the first Smash game that I will spend over 30 hours playing, since the N64 version.

But I really gotta ask. What is the best control setup for this game? I don't like having up on the stick also be jump, because there are times when I'd just like to attack up, without jumping. Should I just pay for a Nintendo Gamecube adapter, and use my old GC controller?

Tap jump can be turned off on most control setups. If you're not accustomed to the GC controller to play the joycons or pro controller do the job just fine.

Also a new short hop method has been added into the game, pressing two jump buttons at the same time always brings out a short hop.
