If you think LGBT rights are respected amongst the larger football family you are severely mistaken. There's a reason why so few footballers admit to being part of the LGBT group. 

So I seen Arsenal FC updated their profile picture to support the LGBT movement and was shocked to see the smiley reactions. Out of 45k reactions about 15k are angry faces. Looking through the names they mainly appear to be Hispanic and Arab people. Reading the comments was shocking too.

How do you know that someone is Arabic or Hispanic just by seeing her.his name ?

LOL! No surprise to me that most of the people who are angry about this are of an Arabic background, but there were a dozen or so Polish and Eastern Europeans that were getting upset as well from what I saw scrolling thorough the comments.

Football in general sadly. Arsenal just have a bigger world wide fanbase than say, Southampton, so the reaction will be different. This said good on Arsenal leaving the comments there for all to see and not changing their picture.

I am absolutely shocked that football fans are not a bastion of inclusivity.

It's sad indeed, but this does not necessarily mean that 1 out of 3 arsenal fans is homophobic. Their Facebook page has 37 million likes, but the vast majority of these people does not care enough to like or comment. The homophobes do care, because they're angry.

And regarding the origin of these homophobes, of course most of them are Arabian / Asian / whatever, since homosexuality simply isn't accepted in these countries.

Well if there name is written in Arabic I'm going to assume they are. If there name is say Juan Carlos I'm going to assume they are Hispanic. 

Yeah sorry I forgot to mention there are also plenty from Africa, Eastern Europe and Russia. 

Yeah they always leave the comments open when they support these movements. Good on them. Don't let these guys win.
