I've never bought digital before, , always with the fear that I might lose data if my system breaks or gets bricked.

I always import my games , and this time I want to get Pokemon: let's go! Eevee and was thinking of going digital due to the huge price difference (never had to import 60$ games since Sony games are available regionally for my ps3) , so I was wondering if theres anything I should be worried about? should I just get the physical copy?

I suppose the digital games you purchase are attached your account, not your hardware. At least this is how Steam works, once you buy one game, it is yours by binding it to your Steam acc. You can re-download them for free through you Steam acc if you change your PC in case of your old rig breaks.

Switch games that you buy digitally are linked to your Nintendo Account. meaning you can redownload them on any other Switch console that you log into.

The only real advantage to buying physical is the ability to resell. If you don't care about that, I see no reason to worry about digital. The exception would be for collectors. Just racking up digital titles in a digital library isn't much of a collection.

You won't lose your game unless you misbehave so badly your account gets banned.

I don't know how it works on Switch, yet things to look out for are: (ps4)
- If you have multiple consoles, you'll need to be connected online to play the game on any secondary console.
- DLC from other regions might not be compatible, beware when buying from different regions.
- If you want to switch to digital for a game you already have, you have to upload your save data to the cloud, delete every trace of the game on the console and redwonload the digital game. They are not interchangeable.

For now, that is. I would be surprised if one or more major platforms didn't have their online service shut down sooner while there are still people wanting to play games (including digitally purchased ones) on the system. I also kind of expect this first from Nintendo.

Well that depends.  On Switch, most games run off of the cart which saves data on your SD card.  Even those with partial install will mean less data instaed on the card.  On Switch, there is very much an advantage.

However in terms of Switch, digital also has its advantages such as not having to swap carts on the go.

Now on PS4 or X1, they require install anyway.  However in areas with extremely slow internet, the install time would be faster off of the disk.  But with so many day one patches in this regard, your point holds up on these two consoles.
