Sounds cool. Can you share any information about your job, like what studio you work for or the genre of game you are working on? If not I understand.

Congrats on everything!

Thanks!

I'm at Avalanche right now, doing my internship as a world designer

Nice.  Congrats.  Doing world design work sounds very cool especially for a studio that makes open world games.

Congrats :) I have a friend who is in a similar position who wants to create projects with me but he never has much time (he has 3 kids to juggle lol). It's cool u work for a games company. Do u also have/had any personal projects on the go?

I would love to work in the games industry & I always have a few personal game projects on the go. I usually start a new project and I never get round to finishing the old ones lol. I hope one day I finally finish a game and finally put it on the app/google store or indie console market.
I use Gamemaker atm, all my projects have been 2D but I have experimented with Unity and will one day I wanna create a 3D online multiplayer Kirby Air Ride (City Trial) clone for mobile (but with different themes/characters and more environments/abilities so I don't get sued lol). I did 3D animation at uni and have been playing piano since I was 6 so art, and music is my native skills, but I have learned some coding along the way with GML (mainly creating/editing variables & writing if/else statements).

My problem (with my current 2D Gamemaker project) is that after I created the main mechanic, I added more and more abilities until the programming got harder to fathom, then I don't work on it for months, then I came back to it and forgot how it is all put together XD (plus I was half way implementing a firework item that the player uses to focuses enemies (skulls) attention to that area of the map).
I've learnt how important it is to fix any bugs when it happens, there and then, so that they don't all build up and have a chain-reaction style of messing up things. Also when I build on top of a fundamental mechanic which has bugs it is a lot harder to change as the rest of the game is built out of the same faulty logic which created the glitches in the first place lol. When I have an programming issue I sometimes I leave the coding for a while (and focus on sprites or sound) then come back to code it with a clear mindset and somehow the solution is really clear and was simpler than I originally thought. A lot of the time I figure out the solution when I am afk and out of the house. I try my best not to rely on my brother (who is a brilliant programmer), I try to learn myself but he is a really good helper if I really can't figure out a programming problem. He can figure out a problem in less than a minute of skimming through my code and point out why the glitch happens and where it happens, he can come up with multiple solutions and say which way is best and most simple, he is amazing. I need to work with more projects with him, we live in the same household so it shouldn't be hard.

Anyway, sorry for typing so much. I didn't realise I written a lot until I read through it lol XD.

Yes, that is their forte. The maps are pretty big, and it's a challenge to fill them with cool vistas

Why don't you apply to a game education? That's what I did; http://futuregames.se/ is the school I went to. Doesn't require a whole lot from you, only that you have a High School degree/diploma.
