Did anyone made the comment yet that the pokemon purists are like the melee purists or like the irish?

Go on....

First week number, not 3 days.

I want this game to succeed at selling Switch to allow Nintendo to continue the growth of its install base and reach their target, but I also want this game to sell sensibly less than the real main Pokemon games because GameFreak needs to focus on the new generation and not to dumb down their games.

They are bringing a new generation of Pokémon for next year. Let's Go is more of a side series than a mainline (despite it playing similar to one).

The problem is that GameFreak tried to advertize it like a mainline game, probably to try to get more sales, that's why people react negatively as they don't want main games to become like Let's Go. It may replace the remakes like ORAS however.

Right after they announced this, they said that there was a new mainline game coming soon.

Forget the terms mainline and side game or whatever.  How did the advertisement of this game in any way mislead people to think it was something other than what it was?

I was one of them.... I assumed it would be a dissapointment in terms of review scores & fan reception (ei. core pokemon users wouldnt enjoy the dumbed down systems). Always assumed that its sales would be fine, just not as beloved as other pokemon games.

I'm actually part of the group that never said a bad word about Pokémon. Great call by me because there would be egg on my face if I did.

Oh really?

Around here or on other boards or comments sections you can still see people claiming it's a "mainline" title because gamefreak said so and it would be offensive to call it a spin off, maybe to prove a point or to lie to themselves.

I think they used the term that they used is a core Pokemon title, do not believe they ever used the term mainline.

Well obviously talking about Pokémon standards and it's not. It's good but not huge.

Because it is a mainline game GF made it clear that PLG will be a parallel approach to the other mainline games rather than a spin off to have broad audiences enjoy the experience of a Pokemon adventure in a far more manageable package, it's like 2d and 3d Mario. GF said they're both mainline titles only one is more core focused than the other.
