Still has some ground to make up. Is there any other (other than Smash) major or minor Switch release for the rest of the year?

There's more than 30 retail games left to release for the remainder of the year so there's a ton of minor ones. There's also a few notables which include Diablo 3, Civ 6, Katamari, Onimusha and Dragon Quest Builders 2

Well, I think it is noteworthy that RDR2 drops fast, while COD keeps staying strong. Why suddenly the japanese are COD-fans?

Maybe splatoon and Fortnite helped Japanese gamers like other shooting games?

Splatoon has had zero impact on COD sales. Zero. I could see your point with Fortnite because it, along with PUBG made the BR genre popular in Japan but Splatoon definitely no.

Black Ops sub series were always popular in Japan but it's the combination of BO4 being good and the BR mode that made this extra popular.

So with some quick number crunching, Switch outsold the PS4 by over 11:1 this week and all non-Switch hardware by over 7:1.

Rather poor in the end I guess. None will have a major effect, much like the multitudes of 3rd party games that the PS4 gets.

This crazy ratio when you think about.

Yeah, those games want have any bigger effect, but its not like Switch need them in rest of November and in December, not just because Pokemon and Smash and bundles, but because Nintendo always have very strong holiday season in Japan in any case compared to Sony.

This thread SMH.
OT:
Am I the only one disappointed with Pokemon Let's Go sales? The hardware is fantastic but Pokemon is underwhelming IMO. It's not bad but not great either.
It's still a Pokemon game. I won't try to sugar coat it even if I am huge Pokemon fan. Japan is where it should do monstrous numbers. Maybe trying to capture the Go players was not really a good idea but for what it's worth. It's just an okay sale. Hopefully it will have legs.

As for third party doing exclusive to Nintendo in the future? With the rise of SEA in terms of console gaming when super robot wars having an english language ready for an Asian release and with PS very dominant on this region. I don't think so.
3rd party won't ignore PS platform. When 3rd parties didn't ignore Xbox why the heck they will even ignore PS? Some crazy logic in here. Sorry.
Maybe some obscure titles that's being censored by Sony but aside from that I cannot see any.

As for PS, Such shame for Sony. Luckily they are doing great globally.

They are not definitely great numbers for Pokemon game but they are good enough in any case. Remember, this lowest install base than any Pokemon game was launched on (if I saw correctly 14% of all Switch owners in Japan bought game on launch), has highest price point for any Pokemon game, and definitely has highest digital sales for any Pokemon games (that are not tracked).

Also, insaiders from Japan told that only 2-3 weeks before launch game was completely dead and only than things start heating up, also that game has great word of mouth and that game should continue with very strong sales.

According to the Pokemon Company, it sold 3'000'000 units WW which is very good IMO.

Japan sales are quite disappointing for me too but sales in North America must have been huge...

Can't wait for harware numbers this week!

Well MHW on ps4 proved you don't need a huge install base to have a big launch.

However I do agree with the bit in bold.
