We do it on purpose just to screw with Nintendo and Vgchartz. Its also why the PS4 managed to sell 20 million units last year. Because BOTW and SMO.

So that's why Sony hasn't been shit talking Nintendo so much in recent years... Its all coming together now!

Its also why the Ceo of Sony tried to promote the Wii U. The lacking Wii U sales severely hurt the PS4 sales. He even bought multiple to turn the tables, unfortunately it did not matter all that much.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Well at least he tried. He did more than Nintendo at times...

For reference, Fatmisu reported 1,199,814 for Ultra Sun/Moon’s first three days.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Can it reach 2 million copies sold in its first week?

In Uk sold 116.000 and I expect numbers to be higher in France and Germany, and obviously in US.

I'm expecting 500k in EU, and NA to be over 800k fw so yeah i think 2m is a given

What was the 3ds install base?

Around the Network

Switch only has 1/3 to 1/4 the userbase the 3DS had when those other Pokemon games launched, so it's well in line with sales of other titles relative to the size of the Switch userbase in Japan.

it will sell over 2 million first week and totally deserves the success :D

Not really that impressive if it didn't sell 5.6M copies against a 5.5 installed base.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Install base is a pretty terrible thing to use to justify a game's sale when your console is a year old on the market, but Let's Go did alright. The weird nature of the game meant it would never be at the same level of previous mainline entries (despite Nintendo's claims of it being a mainline game).

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

I don't think it's an unfair thing to bring up when Pokemon X and Y launched an entire year later than Let's Go did in it's respective console's time (2.5 years vs 1.5 years). It's simply an observation that, in fact, 3DS was later in it's life and at around 40 million when that game launched, versus what the Switch is at now.

I don't think it's a huge factor though, and I'll admit that people seem very inconsistent on when they want to use install base as a factor of success.
