Forums - Sony Discussion - Rumor: Release Dates for Death Stranding, Ghost Of Tsushima and Dreams at TGA 2018

Update: Release windows for Death Stranding and Ghost of Tsushima will be revealed during this year's edition of The Game Awards next month. Official release date of Dreams will also be announced

hard to believe, but after the announcement that sony wouldn't be at e3 2019, everything is possible...

Why would Ghost have a release date before TLOU2? It looks, by far, the least complete.

Not buying this. Sony has lately been very cautious about giving release windows since all their games got delayed. So them giving release windows for games that over a year out seems implausible. Unless they are all 2019 titles but still I don't see it

Sucker Punch hasn't released anything since 2014, unless something has gone very wrong Ghosts of Tsushima i would expect that it is released before TLOU2.

It's a new IP though (always take the longest to make) and Sucker Punch isn't as big as some other Sony studios. For comparison, this is the amount of employees some Sony studios have on LinkedIn:

  • Sucker Punch: 186
  • Naughty Dog: 442
  • Guerrilla Games: 283

Naughty Dog have released 4 games this gen. Sucker Punch have just released 1 (not counting the DLC from Second Son as its own entity). They have probably been working on it a lot longer than any of us realize.

It could happen I suppose, I just wouldn't bet on it.

Also 4 from Naughty Dog? Are we including remasters?

I was watching the death stranding 8 minute trailer regehtku. God I'm hyped for it

Yeah. So 2 "new games" and 2 remasters.

Naughty Dog didn't do The Nathan Drake Collection, Blue Hole did. Although I will say that, if I recall correctly, The Last of Us developers absolutely did do the port themselves. Not really comparable to a new game.

Both Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch did "standalone DLC" (downloadable content that kind of became their own games), Naughty Dog with Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, and Sucker Punch with Infamous: First Light. I am not questioning even in the slightest which took more development time, The Lost Legacy was much more tasking, but Naughty Dog has significantly more employees and a bigger budget.

So let's see:

-Naughty Dog did 1 full game, 1 standalone DLC, and 1 port

-Sucker Punch did 1 full game and 1 standalone DLC

-Sucker Punch is working on a new IP, not a sequel

-Sucker Punch is working on an open world game

-Sucker Punch's game was announced PSX 2017, The Last of Us 2 was announced PSX 2016

-Sucker Punch has less than half of Naughty Dog's development staff

Given this I don't see how the conclusion is that it's equally likely that The Last of Us 2 comes out after Ghost. Not saying it can't happen, it could, I just don't see it.

Actually this is not that outside of the realm of possibility.

Death Stranding is in polishing as we know, and we are approaching 5 years since Infamous that we have to be close to their game.

Then TLOU will follow in 2020.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

First Light and Second Son came out in 2014. Uncharted 4 came out 2016 and Lost Legacy came out 2017. And though TLOU2 was revealed first, we saw gameplay for both games at the same time.

Edit: and admittedly, I didn't realize The Drake Collection was outsourced

Well ... yeah ... I said that the Lost Legacy expansion was way harder to make, did I not?

Fairs fair bro, I'm not saying it won't happen, I'm just more in the "TLOU 2 comes out first camp", not that you're wrong.

I'd say no . I feel the gameplay reveal is far more complete than tlou2s. Additionally that Tsushima demo was a side mission .

Oof, my opinion is very unpopular in this thread indeed

Guess that means Ghost will probably come out first. Not that that was ever out of the realm of possibility to begin with, I just don't believe it will.
