Weird. Not like it would be hard to make trailers for Death Stranding, Ghosts, and LoU2 and then have a bunch of third party stuff.

Wow, are they going to do their own event to hog all that singular attention for the PS5? This is going to be a very interesting E3.

It could still be 2019 either. I always expected them to release PS5 in the year of their 25th anniversary, but yes....why not in spring? a spring release seems to have worked well for Nintendo..although it would be a first for Sony. If anything this makes me excited for what’s to come next year. I’m still surprised by this decision. Kodera said they’d duck a bit, but that’s not what I expected. |
I mean the thing is we already know what is happening in 2019 in terms of games....
Edit Forgot Ghosts as well... damn still much to come.
So we can see that 2019 is pretty much set in stone and no need to talk about these games at E3 or announce games new for 2020 as they'll be PS5) as Sony have learnt that got them burnt before when trying to match MS for earliest announcements (I think this is the change in attitude). I think MS will go back to E3 showing logo's etc but if they dont mention next gen, I think thats lost on the audience.
Clearly the diminishing relevance of E3. There are so many other ways to reach fans at this point and both Sony and Nintendo had fairly bad presentations at E3 this year.
well, it's not that bad, most games announced at E3 should be on ps4 anyway and I the generation is already won. Better focus on having next gen without droughts and letting 3rd parties provide games

Madword said: I think there is some short sighted thinking here on VG... over at resetera a few of us are thinking why this might be the case. Early 2020 (march) launch for Ps5, why do E3, too early for talk about PS5...some negativity of course but its the end of the PS4/Xbox gen whatever MS shows wont impact this gen's sales (especially if a new console is then out by the next E3). Sony will have a show in September to talk about PS5. No point going to E3 to talk about PS4 games that everyone already knows about, people will be people and just moan. |
I believe you are right, outside of one thing. PS5 will come holiday 2020, not early 2020. Change my mind...

wow seems like many people don't care about E3 anymore. I still love it. The hype and just the amount of exciting news at once is always great. I don't care what this means or doesn't mean for Sony and their competition. I just love E3 and next year will not have one of the greats.
The introduction of a new gen was never held back by events focusing on previous gen consoles.
Not holding a PSX this year? Ok. Not even being at E3? That's not ok.
I can get they not doing a press conference, but not being there altogether? It just doesn't make sense. If MS has enough stuff to show at E3, Sony has have at least as much.
They got to be preparing something (not PS5 related) next year, otherwise, missing E3 just doesn't make sense.
