#10 Star Wars: Dark Forces
guessed by The_Liquid_Laser
platform DOS
release year 1995
developer/publisher LucasArts
genre first person shooter

last year  #10

So, you may have noticed I love LucasArts games and this one is no different. As many LucasArts games this is an point-and-click advent... oh wait. It is a Star Wars games, so it is probably a space shoot... oh wait. It is a first-person shooter in the Star Wars universe? Yes, it is, and it is great.

Dark Forces took influences from the booming shooters like Doom and built upon that foundation. It had so much more on offer than Doom had, which made it an excellent game. To this day the felling of meeting the first Dark Trooper is hard to beat.

Last hint for this one.

#13 - Though this game's soundtrack is regarded by many (myself included) as one of the best ever, it still features only one song in Smash.
It's a platformer.
It's notable for having a re-release priced higher than the original release, for no good reason.
It's also notable for one of the most infamous announcements ever at the Game Awards.

Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze?

More clues from me:

6. a) While the first game in the series played like an arcade game, this third entry was clearly made for the home with it's over world that let you pick your stages.
b) This game had even more secrets than the first game, which didn't seem possible at the time.
c)  Racoon

4. a) In Japan this PS1 game was meant to be a response to the Fire Emblem series.  However in North America we got this several years before our first Fire Emblem game.
b)  I think one reason that this game impacted me so much is that it released in North America before Final Fantasy V did.

3. a)  2018 is a great year to honor Stan Lee, but this PC game really payed homage to him way back in 2002 (well him and Jack Kirby too).
b)  This game features characters like Minute Man, the Ant, the Enchantress, and El Diablo.

2.  Some of the decisions made early in this game determine who you will take on a date later on.

OK, more hints, starting to go into the TOP 5.

a) Remake of the first game in the series with the engine of the fourth.
b) The remake added a mode with a full-fledged story with cut-scenes and fixed party, while you also could play classcial mode with some of the gameplay-additions in newer games
Guessed by The_Liquid_Laser: Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millenium Girl

#4
a) Freedom.
Guessed by The_Liquid_Laser: Zelda: Breath of the Wild

#8: I recently said in another thread that the 8th game is probably the best objectively speaking, but this one here, the second game, is still my favorite easily regardless. Call it nostalgia, but it just means too much to me personally.

Mario Kart 64?

I remember thinking about it nearly every day for the entirety of 2013, counting down the days, and sprinting into the store as it opened up on the morning of October 12th to make sure I got a copy

Same. I don't think I've ever been so excited for any other game. It's also the only game I've ever bought on launch day, I think.

^ that was a good post.

Well, I'm nearly done catching up, finally. Gonna hint the next two games as we're approaching day #8.

#9 - Though it is the game that created one of this franchise's most recognizable themes, the song is normally associated with the next home console entry.
#8 - This game ends when you aim to the moon and shoot.

8.  Majora's Mask?  (never played it, but I know the moon is a big deal in it.)
