Forums - Gaming Discussion - Red Dead Redemption 2 sells more in 8 days than RDR1 sold in 8 years, 17m shipped as of today

Glad to hear it, quality work deserves attention and profits. And it's a single player adventure at that! Between this and AC: Odyssey, we're once again seeing that single players is far from (red) dead, on the contrary. And at the same time; Bethesda are poised to release a wart on the Fallout universe by making it something no one asked for and Blizzard are cocking up by choosing a damn mobile game to end their Blizzcon. Take note, single player games are just as relevant as ever.

Uhm uhm, someone has forgot to mention God of War and Spiderman in his post. Interestingly, these four games sold more than any other game in their franchise.

RDR 2 sold more than RDR in 8 days

AC Odyssey was the fastest selling AC game on current gen

Spiderman was the fastest selling Spiderman game

God of War was the fastest selling God of War game

Believe it or not, but at one store chain in Brazil they were commenting on how RDR2 didn't made the same strong sales as GoW and Spider-Man. Sure that may be something that long term will be reversed even on their store, but it's curious enough to mention. That may have something to do with the fact that Sony 1st party games launch for 200 (and you can find for 179 on greyshops) against 250 of RDR2, plus exclusives generating hype and all.

Didn't forget, merely used the two most recent and most record breaking examples.

I have GoD, but not Spiderman, decided I need to wait since I've bought far too many games over the past two months. Finished AC, about to finish RDR2, and then I need to finish Pathfinder: Kingmaker.

SM is worth the cost and putting it in front of other games on your backlog, but you can always buy gold edition for cheaper =]

Yeah, I'm getting it for sure, but I need less distractions right now, not more!

Thinking of getting it after new year's, I have some other titles I want as well, Forza Horizon 4, among others. Possibly Far Cry 5.

This is insane, really, and well deserved !

I couldn't believe the title of this Thread at first glance...

I feel the same. Incredible ratings AND sales figures, wow.
+ Most pre-ordered full game ever on PlayStation Network;
+ Biggest day one full game sales ever on PlayStation Network;
+ Biggest first three days full game sales ever on PlayStation Network.
Respect for this Masterpiece! @ Rockstar Games

Can't live be summarized to not having enough time or money to play all the games we want?

Among other things, absolutely! Between full time++ work and studying 50%, days fly by all too quickly.
