Forums - Politics Discussion - Democrats took control of the house, now what?

Democrats have taken control of half of the government, this is nothing to down play about. They haven't had the house in 8 years, if Republicans are not worried now, they will be later.

That's jumping the shark a little bit at this point in time. I don't think we'll really know how all this plays out with the bigger picture for at least another year to see what Dems manage to accomplish in the house. Gonna be interesting

I have a very low opinion on Democrats right now honestly, so i think they will overplay their hand. Anything that goes wrong now will be blamed on the House Democrat majority and used against them in the 2020 election. And i really hope they won't pursue impeachment of Trump cause it will lead nowhere.

Impeachment won't work with a majority senate republican. You'd need 2/3rd vote and that wont happen. If Democrats play their cards right though they can disrupt nearly everything about the agenda for the next two years and just be a thorn in the republicans side, which I think they will. It's smart politics and their best bet heading into 2020 with the campaign of they're standing up to the republicans for YOU the people(democrat voters) and its a message that can work. They gotta be smart about it though, overplay their hand and it will bite them, but push back and disrupt just enough and it can pay off for them in the long run in two years time.

Yeah, the Democrats needs to walk the line between being disruptive but not destructive, It's going to be exciting to see if they can.

I'ts not like the politics in that country could be more divided. So I guess nothing happens until the inevitable reelection of Trump.

Trump will be chased down by them like a hog by a vengeful wolf lol
This is a glorious day

meh, business as usual. It'll be like 2010 all over again where nothing gets done and everything gets blocked, but with Democrats at the "helm" instead of Republicans this time.

The Democrats will do nothing unless it doesn't affect their donors.

Beloved Leader was historically unaccomplished despite holding the House and Senate, so losing the House is unlikely to make to make much of a difference for him.

But it makes a yuge difference for his opponents. Beloved Leader faces his biggest threat in his life: the threat of accountability.

Actually, they have only taken control of a third of government.

Republicans - POTUS and Senate

Democrats - House of Representatives.

Mitch McConnell remains Senate Majority leader and Pelosi (if she survives the infighting) becomes the next Speaker of the House.
