Impressive!

Doesn't look too impressive, hope Nintendo copyright strikes them

You mean something like Sony tried with Bleem! when it was a thing? Emulators themselves are legal, and that's it. (It's quite easy to step to the illegal zone though.)

The thought of stopping from paying 60 dollars for my Nintendo games scares me to death.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Blah, blah, yadda, yadda, yes we know. Still doesn't make it any more ethical to take away from the hard work people put into these games. Years of creativity and effort only for people to cheapen it by making it free.

Now update the rig for the price of a few switches..

Hehe, impressive nonetheless. I'll just stick to the Switch.

Admit it: you're panicking like crazy, right now.
I know you OTB.
Well enough at least.

Not that I need to play SMO again, but knowing that I will probably be able to play it at 4k60, on my PC in the near future is pretty exciting.

I think it's a great technical achievement. As someone who is a dev (not gaming) I think it's amazing and nothing but respect. However, I myself have no desire to use it. Now you, mister who knows me.

Just made a thread like this so...... yeah didnt notice this one until it was pointed out to me.

I think its crazy how fast this emulator is comeing along.
It wont be long until most of the Switch library is fully playable on a pc.

Yeah, the pace at which this is moving is scary. It's moving even faster than CEMU. Osyssey has only been out for around a year...and it's already being emulated to this quality. Which makes me wonder...why are Nintendo consoles so easy to emulate compared to PS and Xbox consoles. Perhaps the fanbase is just that more diligent?

One big reason is that their hardware is always way worse. Emulation needs a lot of power, especially when the emulation is not perfect. If PCs can't run it then there's no need to work on an emulator. The PS3 for example was a nightmare due to the Cell. That's why it has taken so long. And even now it's far from perfect but that's due to it being an old console at this point.

There would be a 100% funktional emulator for the PS3 if it wasnt for the nightmare that is the cell processor.
Part of it is the fanbase though...... demand for Sony & nintendo emulators are without a doubt much much higher.

Didn't the 3DS take forever to get a decent emulator?

Most likely because of the very different GPU and API, i think.

Tegra is well known hardware, and both GPU's from Switch and Wii U are close to the PC-hardware, Nvidia and AMD built. The CPU's are far from the nightmare CELL was.

It's also very likely that both system architectures make a less acurate, thuogh faster emulation relatively simple.

If you look elsewhere, it can be difficult to get a decent emulation of even pretty old hardware. Sega Saturn has always been a nightmare foremulator devs and is far from perfect until today.

Even emulators like Dolphin still have many issues, usually because of parts of the hardware.

Going for more standard components makes emulation way easier.

The people that are into this do it to play souped up versions of the games they love. And the roms they are using are ripped directly from copies of the game many times (hence someone had to buy it). I used to copy cds, dvds, etc. Why can't people rip a game from a cd or cartridge and play it how they want if they own it?

I will admit, where the piracy comes in is the big websites that offer the roms, and those get shut down all the time. Even then, most people pirate the old stuff (SNES,PS1, etc), because most new stuff is unplayable without a decent rig. And companies are still selling old games like hot cakes so I think emulation barely makes a dent to the industry. Not anywhere close to making an impact on the market like PC piracy.

But the emulators themselves are really not anything bad, and I don't think the people making them profit off or get much out of making them aside from self satisfaction.
