Forums - Nintendo Discussion - And the final revealed fighters pre-release in Smash Ultimate are...

Ken, Incineroar and Piranha Plant (?!).

Piranha Plant is a bonus for those that buy early.

What.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Come join The 2018 Obscure Game Monthly Review Thread.

They mentioned at the start of the Tree House that Piranha Plant would be free until late January.

Yeah, anti-climactic end. The August Direct, with the Belmonts, Chrom, Dark Samus and the 'one more thing' reveal of K Rool was by far the best pitched Direct for this game. The other two have been poorly paced and this one in particular suffered from poor communication - why not clearly communicate how World of Light and Spirits mode work? I understand the Spirits concept, but it wasn't clear how World of Light fits into it.

It also sounds like Sakurai and the development team already have decided who the five DLC fighters are - no mention of a fighter ballot, and the reasoning behind Rex not appearing and only being a Mii costume was that the roster was decided on during the planning stages of Smash development, which must have been 2017 or potentially earlier.

Personally, I'm still holding out hope Skull Kid is going to make his way into the game - no glimpse of him during the Assist section, which did show both Isaac and Shadow are returning as Assist trophies.

Inceneroar and piranha Plant are such big dissapointments.Ken is the only one really good here.

I mean, Piranha plant could have been a fun addition if the rest of the direct didnt suck so much ass(outside of story mode of course!)

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Is Piranha Plant one of the 5 paid DLC characters? I imagine so since that's what he becomes if you don't buy the game early.

At least we still have a way to acquire him afterwards.

Kinda funny that a more low-level Mario villain just became a Smash Bros. fighter. Who's next, Goomba?

I'm impressed by the moveset they showed off. This will be a good addition for diversity in the fighting styles. Not another sword-fighter. Or another shooter. This looks very different.

No, Piranha Plant is a free character that will become paid DLC, but not one of the five characters yet to be confirmed. The other dlc characters will each come with a stage and new music, whereas Piranha Plant comes on its own as a new fighter. Today they stressed the number of fighters as 74, counting Pokemon Trainer as one, so Piranha Plant plus five more characters makes 80, which is a nice round number for them.

Incineroar and Ken are amazing. I'll need to play as the plant first.

Ken is my favorite SF character, so that's just awesome that he made it in.
