Jesus christ. Over 3 times xb1. Over 100k over the switch. With red dead week and black friday coming up switch will have a hard time catching the ps4 this year. I'm starting to see why Sony didn't drop the price. They seem to be struggling to keep up with ps4 demand even at the current price.

Yeah drink it in, lap it up. This is the golden age for playstation. Long may it last. Peaceful times after the long war.

Considering that possibly the Ps4 BF bundle will consist on a 1tb slim Ps4 plus spider man for $199 I really can see the winner for 2018 contest already.

I don't even think we'll see a $199 standalone model, let alone bundled with one of the hottest games of the year.

Nah good guy Sony won't fleece the consumers and will do the unthinkable. 200$ ps4 will happen.

Another week of health lead, but Switch is still selling well and preparing for holidays.

But seeing the 800k revision of PS4 numbers it's possible that several of the weeks Switch outsold PS4 actually didn't happen. The PS4 lead increased to 2.6M so it is getting a little harder for Switch to end the year in first.

I'm starting to think that none of those weeks actually happened.

800k on the quarter (12 weeks) revision, so about 75k per week on average, and the difference Switch had was like lower than 30k. So if we really look at it, Switch haven't won a week WW this year as far as I remember.

Easy enough to check, just go through the hardware tool. Switch has won 3 out of 41 weeks according to current VGC figures.

January 6th, Switch won by 0.3k
July 14th, Switch won by 10.2k
July 21st, Switch won by 6.9k

Totals for 2018 up to October 13th:

PS4: 10,453,132
Switch: 8,068,054

Thank you, and considering VGC tolerances, it's safe to say we can't be sure if those weeks were truly victories or not. Strange that it showed 2.4M difference to you, it had show 2.6 on front page (10.7 vs 8.1)

You're right, I must have missed a week for the PS4, recounted and now matches front page figures same as switch.

Sales in 2018:

PS4:       10,715,376
Switch:    8,068,054

800,000 divided by 12 isn't 75,000.

Has to be said though, even with all the hype about the Switch being the machine to get this Christmas, people who want to play all the AAA games and 3rd parties on a TV pretty much have just one "HD" system of choice, last gen we had an equal divide for that market by the X360/PS3 both ending up at around 80m units, if the PS4 can dominate that market completely then regardless of what the Switch does the PS4 pretty much has the potential to be one of if not the best selling console of all times.

Strong PS4 sales figures for the best games-console in the last years :)
