Forums - Sony Discussion - PlayStation Classic Full Games Lineup Revealed

I'm sure, just like the NES/Snes classic you'll be able to hack this thing and put whatever you want on it. I've never really seen the point in these devices though, if you're going to emulate the games instead of buying the original console, then just emulate them on something you own.

Or alternatively you'll probably be able to get a case for the Raspberry Pi and make your own "PlayStation Classic" at a fraction of the cost.

The only purpose I see to these classic devices is for a games collection, to sit and look pretty. In which case it doesn't really matter what games are on it.

There's some hot garbage in that list of games. I expected better. Glad I didn't bother to preorder.

Wouldn't surprise me if that ends up being possible, but the amount of flash memory it includes is going to be the limiting factor.

How the F do you have a PS1 classic without Gran Turismo?

Battle Arena Toshinden
Jumping Flash!

How fucking dare you!

Sony want to make money by selling art, Nintendo want to make money by selling fun, Microsoft want to make money.

Heh, this is kind of a mediocre list.Sure you have your gems and GOAT games, like RE and FF VII, but other than those games, most are kind of meh.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

That does nothing for the target audience of these Classic consoles.  These are meant to be impulse shopping buys for someone looking for a nostalgic kick at around $5 per game, not $40 each remasters on a $300 system.  The list of games should be stacked with titles instantly recognizable to someone who owned or was aware of the original PlayStation, whether they have continued gaming throughout their life or not.  The PlayStation Classic is missing hugely notable franchises in that regard.  Having remasters out or in development for the PS4 doesn't render that a moot point in the slightest.

Not at all a moot point. Having the 3 Spyro and 3 Crash games remastered/remade is a huge deal, as evidenced by Crash's immense sales.

The SNES classic is missing hugely notable 3rd party franchises just like the Playstation Classic. Not surprisingly, Square Enix didn't want to glorify the origin of Tomb Raider since they had nothing to do with the early games and Activision wanted to push their Crash/Spyro remastered games. There's no sort of surprise here.

The biggest surprise is Gran Turismo, but I'm not too informed on the first release. I know GT2 had Creed, Beck, and Foo Fighters songs which could be a huge hassle song rights-wise, but did the first GT have any big music on it?

Name the "hugely notable franchises" missing from the SNES Classic.  By the way, Secret of Mana was both released in collection form and remade on current systems, but that didn't stop it from making it into the SNES Classic lineup.  By your logic, there was no reason for it to be on there.

Useless cowards.
I knew they would not have LoD on it.

Honestly it doesn't make sense why not, because they own the damn IP!

Do you honestly want to know?

Imagine having to pay licenses for these:

As well as these:

or... you could just put in a game without licensed assets, like they did. It's the same reason why the THPS remake doesn't have the same soundtrack.
