I think Europe is gonna be an Islamic region before unity happens. But I hope I'm wrong and your right wing parties start getting some votes.

I'm trying to wrap my head around wanting to unify with Russia. I bet the people are nice and country is beautiful, their government though...

Either way, all the western should have some unity. But first, you guys need to actually put money in a military.

Islamic? Don't make me laugh. You do realise in 100 years hardly anybody in Europe no matter what their religion will be very religious. Religions are dying out. Europe will be secular.

I hope the same for the middle east. But I doubt that will happen and I know where people from that region like to migrate.

On a side note, the Islamic population is expected to grow in Europe. Not decline in the near future.

I still don't understand why USA and others are not trying to move away from oil as quick as possible as that would sort out a lot of the political world issues for them.

Because so much money is tied up in it, governments will either find it it too expensive to move away from it - or consumers will and likely see it as unnecessary and wasteful. Then you've got the oil lobby who clearly don't want to lose their market so...

Plust with shale in the US, it's a way for them to get energy independence so it gives them a political benefit.

Should everybody in the west be forced to buy an electric car?

Should this be done with subsidies (they have tax credits in the US)?

Doesn't the US give a load of subsidies to the oil industry already? I don't think they want to subsidise any other forms of energy.

I know it the Uk, diesel has seen a sharp decline due to issues about air pollution, and the government wants to completely phase out petrol cars (as well as diesel) by 2030(? - can't remember what year they said). That said, I'm not convinced they'll end up going through with it.

Well your country aligns themselves with Germany who were instrumental in the 2 world wars so far. Go to Russia, visit different cities and meet the people. You'll soon see we Europeans are just that. Europeans living in different countries. The Russian people are a great bunch despite what Western propaganda teaches you.

Russia and its people are our enemy. They keep letting people who want nothing but the submission of the entire continent to Russia come to power, which they show time and time again. It's a shame the EU and NATO aren't doing everything in their power to make the Russian government collapse. A peaceful Europe with the current Russian government is simply impossible.

The Russian People aren't your enemy unless you keep saying they are, then you will get what you asked for

The west have placed missile systems right on Russia's border provoking them, think what would be the sentiment in the US if Canada and Mexico came under Chinese influence with missile silos being installed just across the border, show some insight instead of just reacting

The US subsidizes petrochemicals because the resources give far greater value per price. Installing other sources of energy aside from maybe hydro is just worse value for their money ...

Subsidies only truly makes sense if it is cheap and maximizes savings so that takes intermittent sources like renewable's out of the picture since they don't provide great value. US companies developed shale extraction technology which was inline with the governments geopolitical interests of securing cheap enough energy independence so that they could thwart the regimes running OPEC and Russia ...

The US transitioning to renewable sources would run counterproductive to their geopolitical strategy since they don't want OPEC nations or Russia gaining power. In fact, the US would be very much happy to wage economic warfare against those regimes by making their oil fields less profitable or downright unprofitable. Don't you find it cute how modern warfare is about trying to make your hostile states poorer ?

Big fucking deal if the Muslim population grows. It's pretty small as it is in Europe.

Maybe if those countries didn't suffer decades of Russian occupation and oppression they wouldn't feel the need to ally themselves with NATO and getting all that protection. It's no coincidence that since the collapse of the Warsaw Pact and the Soviet Union that one by one Russia's former "allies" are looking to join the EU and NATO.

Oh, I'm no expert on the subject but oil subsidies are little more complicated than a tax credit for buying a car that doesn't use oil.

I don't see that happening in any country unless there are huge leaps forward on electric cars and prices.
