I've forgone upgrading the camp or adding to camp funds fuck em they don't help but telling me shit when I come back to camp after I'm gone for a long time. wish I could tell dutch and em fuck off and go on my own dumb asses always getting me into shit

There are several points where Dutch asks Arthur if he would rather leave the gang and go it alone. And I'm like YES YES say YES you dumb fuck. But no, Arthur always crawls back under Dutch's wing. He's a coward not willing to do the obvious. Arthur must have some serious crush on Dutch to make the story even remotely make sense!

Arthur is also a huge hypocrite. Giving Dutch heck for killing an 'innocent' that might betray them while they're running for their lives, then later he happily wipes out a settlement for yet another new spot for camp. Of course R* makes sure to paint the occupants as evil in some way, got to keep it black and white. It's like two very different teams were in charge of world building and main story design.

I'm not sure what the point was of upgrading the camp. I've never used any supplies from camp, nor the fast travel or stables. I tend to avoid camp as the game slows you down to walking through molasses in camp. I guess they complain even more if you don't keep the camp stocked.

Yes well if anything I feel John was even more justified for his actions in RDR 1

Don't forget that one of the upgrades says this will incentivize others to donate more.

And funny every time you go to camp they are all merry over there... you are basically the slave father of a very big leechery family.

Dutch basically created him, so they have a father/son relationship so Arthur follows him to the end even after much abuse.

I haven't killed an innocent once, but yes the lecture on Dutch killing to get back the gold and avoid another betrayal is ridiculous, and after you being betrayed so many times you should appreciate that him for once is concerned with it.

I get the relationship with Dutch, yet Arthur can think for himself in 'white' missions, while in 'yellow' missions he's all yes sir, whatever you say sir. He does complain yet never goes through with it.

I'm sure you killed plenty innocents! Never fired a shot at a guard or law man? Did you let all those story missions fail and press skip to avoid killing innocents that simply try to uphold the law? The game is very inconsistent about what is murder or honorable. Defending yourself against one shooter isn't the same as another. Looting a victim sometimes gives you information like a letter, yet most of the time it's dishonorable to check victims.

That tip about equipping the weapons you want at the gun smith, it doesn't work. I had them set correctly forever (just checked) and it is simply the luck of the draw what I end up with in missions. Usually just 2 random revolvers. How did QA miss this.

I'm not at a point where more of the map i basically blocked off, can't pay off that 'bounty'. So now there are annoying patrols around. I tried to lead Pinkertons to camp to see what happens, it doesn't work. Fighting them simply fires up the R* 'spawn more' engine to full tilt. Avoid, pointless. Anyway the white missions are still fun, dreading the next yellow one.

Yes, when you are following a leader in a war there isn't much room for challenging the order.

Nope, I only fire at guards when they keep hunting me and shooting without allowing me to run at all (usually guards paid by corrupts), if I can I'll run and run on the horse. I only loot villains.

I have paid all my bounties. but I'm just starting chapter 6, still haven't gotten near to blackwater.

It's not a war though, it's just in Dutch's head.

I'm getting so tired of baby sitting Dutch. He always runs out in the open, won't take cover, runs ahead. Failed, Dutch has died. Failed, Micah has died. Failed, You have abandoned the idiots. You have to shoot the guards or they will shoot your gang members and fail the mission, over and over.

I can't stand him!

Dutch has died several times on every mission with him, and I'm still stuck with the idiot.

In the mean time my honor is now maxed, and I'm close to $5000 dollars while helping out strangers all over the map. If only Arthur could fix the problems in his own house.

Also, Arthur has been with Dutch for over 20 years, and is the second-in-command. Whether or not he agrees with the orders Dutch gives him, he still takes responsibility to protect and provide for over a dozen women and children, be it for the good of the gang.

I just finished the game last night, and I found the story to be among the best in any game I've played. If it weren't for how good the story is, I don't think I would have enjoyed this game nearly as much as I did. It felt sluggish at times, and with the enormous number of slow animations and in-game cutscenes where your character is forced to walk a slow, set path, it was difficult at times for me to continue playing. The last 25 or so quests I just rushed through as I was only in it for the story at that point, and I didn't want to leave the game unfinished.

Looking back, damn, that was an epic journey...

It's a war, you are being hunted by at least 4 groups that will do all to kill your gang or at least dutch.

I have only failed missions because of myself, no NPC have started running in front, at most they were doing correct pace and I had lagged behind. But sure even when having 12 people team I would kill 80% of the enemies =p

Seems like we are playing slightly different games kkk. have you looked at the configuration and perhaps you have some "autos" on some support configs that is causing these issues?

Also you don't go against commander-in-chief on the open.

I'm slow, careful, methodical, the complete opposite of how my gang members behave. Perhaps I'm just not suited for this game. I end up skipping most of the main story missions because they keep failing from gang members getting killed. They always take the path of most resistance, which breaks immersion to me. Every mission I get to do alone is perfectly fine, yet when I have to follow the gang the game falls apart for me. I simply can't get into the main story because of these game play issues.

I don't think it's a question of configuration options. It's all very trigger / timer based. Shoot group of guys within x second or a gang member gets killed. Quickly follow or a gang member gets killed. Wait too long to get into position or a gang member gets killed. It's just R*s way to prevent any initiative on the player's part, turning every main mission into a simple shooting gallery. That's fine in until dawn rush of blood type games, yet hard to stand in open world games.

Let's see how many more shooting galleries I have to get past to get into Blackwater!

Would you personally betray or leave a family member because of a few weeks of bad decisions of one member? Would you leave the rest of your family behind because of this persons decisions or poorly implemented plans? I hope not because for Arthur it is that type of deal here.

Yes, you intervene when family members set out to destroy their own and other's lives. It gets worse, yet maybe this is the turning point, probably not though. The rides to the missions are still very beautiful. I'm currently enjoying a ride with Rainsfall. A sensible person!

I must be missing something I'm pretty sure Hosea is second in command to Dutch Yes he is grooming Arthur but he doing some terrible grooming with his stupid schemes and plots Arthur must be a real idiot to keep following him

I don’t think I’ve ever played a better open world game. Everything is so detailed and thought out before being added to the game. And outside of story missions, it’s so dynamic. Never seen gameplay as open ended as this. I’ve had simple bounty missions play out four different ways when I reload the checkpoint, all because the NPCs react differently depending on how you come across them, or they can react wildly different to one another and completely change the mission.

I'm really struggling. I have far too little free time to sink into it and I keep getting distracted. Every time I see a new animal I have to start hunting it to try and fill out the compendium.

Given how I felt about RDR 1, I'm enjoying this a lot more than I thought I would.
