Forums - Gaming Discussion - The human cost of Red Dead Redemption 2 (Eurogamer)

I'm glad that the game lives up to the hype, but I'm also glad that the working conditions in gaming are gaining more traction.

I'm so mad at this, that I've decided to make a "promo" poster from the quotes:

One quote I've heard from multiple people is from a manager telling staff who did complain: "If you don't like it, fuck off and work down Tesco's."

I would've quit on the spot

They are lucky to be able to work under shade and air conditioning. there are people on other places working as much time as them but under the heat of the sun, making huge physical effort and receiveing a much lower pay.

no one is forcing these people to work at rockstar, they can quit and work at another company that respects their employees more

Yeah, so we shouldn't complain about anything if there's someone in worse condition. How stupid.

It's not that easy to switch jobs. Some people really depend on what they're being paid by Rockstar and there's no guarantee that they'll find another job if they leave.

Pretty terrible if true. I miiiight be in trouble if I were shit on like that.

Every time I want to complain about the nature of my work and see someone who is in a much worse situation, I forget and thank God for what I can do.

Do you know what human dignity in the workplace is and why empathy and compassion are important? No workplace should legally be allowed to crush people's spirit with a my way or the highway system. I buy rockstar games but do not blindly applaud them if they treat employees like shit, good thing social media exists to expose these abuses and force companies to change their mentality

If you buy or not a product based on the human working conditions that led to its production, then you should know that 90% or more of the components of electronic products are made in China under really, really bad working conditions.

You shoudn't have bought your console or PC in the first place.
