Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sony Santa Monica on a hiring spree

Sounds like they are hiring a ton of high up guys which would suggest they will be starting a new project in addition to god of war 2. Could we see 2 games from them fairly early on for the ps5?

It annoys me that people call it GoW2. It won't be called that and that's not it's number. It would be GoW5.

But anyways I hope they develop Into 2 teams as they initially wanted at the start of the gen, with a GoW team and another one making a new IP. Along with GG hoping to do the same it would be awesome if that pans out

God of war part 2 then.

What's the big deal. I could easily say it annoys me you call it gow4 as ascension was god of war 4. You see where I'm going? They rebooted the franchise and are starting from the beginning numerically for his Norse adventure.

If both Kratos and Atreus and Thor and even Odin are under the next game heck maybe even a flashback of Faye, it may be call God(s) of War or something simple as God of War: Cold Winter or God or War: Fimbulwinter. I'm sure sure they thought about this heavily with a sequel in mind with a solution before resting on the Title God of War. I just know it would be awesome if the have the next game in mind and even more badass if they gave a secondary team working another project.

I do think they'll probably do a 2nd project for PS5, but I honestly don't expect it to release till the 3rd year, mayyybbbeee the 2nd year.

God of War 5 will probably come out within one year of PS5's launch.

Yeah, aside from GoW 5 they have also sent a hundred guys to help on Sony's secret LoD project, so they are in need.
Naughty Dog too.

Don't you ever call it god of war 5 again! It's god of war 6! Don't forget ascension.

Brace yourself psp fanboys incoming saying it should be called god of war 8!

Ascension was God of War 0!

Blasphemy!

Seriously, did the 2 psp games take place after?

I guess they want to do what Guerilla is doing and be a two game studio like ND. No complaints here. Can’t wait for God of War 2 and Cory Barlog’s new IP.

0331 Happiness is a belt-fed weapon

Supposingly the biggest Sony studio, but their output has been too slow. Time for them to pick it up after the critical hit with God of War. Hope this new found confidence brings us new amazing ips.

I wonder how much they are loosing though. I hope they aren't but does anyone know if the initiative is siphoning employees out from under them with the massive pocket of MS or if even some people just got burned out through GOWs developmemt. They haven't mentioned expanding so...

Certainly, MS staffing up some studios puts a squeeze on everyone.  But, I doubt it's a big deal.  There is massive turnover in game development in general, and the work (for many departments, anyway) comes in waves.
