I wonder if this can beat The Witcher 3 as game of the generation. I'm expecting extremely high reviews.

You really think The Witcher 3 will take home game of the Generation over Zelda BOTW?

I guess this is a timeline where the BotW never released.

Apparently I've hit a nerve. BoTW doesn't hold a candle to TW3's complexity, world, lore, characters, story, RPG mechanics, depth, and scale. Only chance to dethrone it is RDR2 and Cyberpunk 2077

The highest it got was 93 on PC, but I think this game will beat it.

Edit: Though with content, only time will tell, the fun I had with The Witcher 3 was beyond immeasurable.

Reviews don't matter that much. Right now when people talk about open world games and quality they mention TW3 as the benchmark. It truly raised the bar, heck how many times have you heard people talk about Bethesda games and their need to up their quality in a post Witcher 3 world? It set the bench mark, Horizon was compared to it, fallout 4 as well. And basically every open world game now looks at the witcher as the game to beat.

Oh I'm not gonna argue that one, I myself believe that as well, I only thought you were asking if RDR2 would beat its score, and I don't let scores dictate my purchases anyways, after watching a lot of the Q&A's on youtube about the game, I'm convinced I'm gonna enjoy this game and even dethrone TW3 as the best open world game for me.

We have our own opinions on games. A question to you is have you played Zelda BOTW?

I've played both, and Witcher 3 definitely sets a higher bar in my opinion. When it comes to content it eclipses botw.

BOTW has quite a basic world. It's really not very varied when it comes to content. If you actually think about it there's not an awful lot of unique content in the game, shrines are numerous and very similair, random events you can encounter are very sparse (oooh look the 8th person I've talked to that is an assassin hooray). There's very few types of enemies in the game. The Korok Trials were a highlight because they were finally something a bit different. Even the inside of the divine beasts all felt so similar.

Witcher 3 has 100+ hours of content with fully voice acted side quests and stories, Zelda's side quests are pretty much "Yo I want 55 rushrooms boi."

I think BOTW has a lot of things that are overlooked because it's a new direction for Zelda, but considering how long the game was in development, outside of the main questline the world is very sparse and the content very repetitive.

Every stable looks the same... that's another example... It's just copy and pasting shrines and stables and enemy camps, and putting in side fetch quests so the vast empty world isn't a completely vast empty world.

Idk man, I'm not going in blind with red dead, I watched the teaser trailer, the two story trailers that released after and a few from the gameplay trailers, but I haven't read and watched any Q&A and there is do much about the game idk about. Because I want to be surprised, I think it's definitely gonna be an amazing and very unique game, and in some aspects I think it's gonna beat TW3, but overall? I don't know.

One area where TW3 has a huge advantage is making choices, and that's a design I absolutely love in games, making my own choices that impact the story and progression of the game is something I enjoy a lot. I know you can make some sort of choices in some areas in RDR (not sure what exactly and don't want to know) but it's not in the scale of TW3. So beating it for GOTG is a really hard task I believe

Mmm,  no.

All big AAA releases are being compared with botw and not the witcher.

Horizon, spiderman, assassin creed,  even rdr2 is known as the last hope for a game to get close to BOTW greatness.

Just look at the forums all over the internet.

It is the other way

TW3 doesn't hold a candle to BOTW.

Yeah, I guess it'll be hard to dethrone, but like I said, time will tell if future contents delivers, though I'm already liking those details I've heard from the Q&A's, we'll just have to see come Friday next week, and about the choices you make, it can impact your game, just not sure how exactly.
