Forums - Gaming Discussion - Scariest Resident Evil Game Moments?

The zombie arms through the barricades in Resident Evil 2. Gets me every single time, without fail.

Also, +1 for the garden maze in RE4. Always have to turn the sound up for that bit to make sure I know what's going on.

Shout out to the composer(s) of RE1. The music is fantastic at creating a sense of terror. The mansion themes, the basement theme, guardhouse theme, dormitory theme, lab theme... all superb and effective.

The textures in revelations 2 on the Vita

When a Doberman suddenly jumped through a window into the hallway in whatever RE was on GCube is the only time I ever screamed outloud playing any VG.

RE1 Directors Cut on PS1.
The dead Agent guy on the chair outside on the balcony. In the OG game you collect an item off him. In the Directors Cut he gets up out of the chair and you have to fight him. Caught me off gaurd and scared the Bjesus out of me.

The verdugo part from RE4.

All of RE7 while in VR is far higher than every other game in the series.

Sony want to make money by selling art, Nintendo want to make money by selling fun, Microsoft want to make money.

If memory serves me, near the end of RE4 there is a furnace or something that pops open concealing one of the zombies (or whatever they were called in that game), which has stuck with me through the years.

But overall, Nemesis was what got me first interested in the series. I was young when playing RE3, so I was more scared than from other games which at the time may have scared me more.

Jack Backers first chase sequence in RE7 VR, while not exactly scary in the general sense it got me so riddled with Anxiety and the effects of adrenaline , even on my second or third go at it, that I had to take off my headset multiple times and catch my breath until I could face it again. The first time with a jump scare, My adrenaline was so high that I had some sort of a panic attack and ended up shaking for like 20 minutes afterward. It's not a immigration of fear when you play VR games, It is real fear, none of thqt shifty feeling like from a film ot flat game byt shear, pure fear. I think thw chainsaw fight would have been the scariest but in instead of getting flight, I got fight.. still ended up shaking a little after the fight.
There are no other films or games that have even come close to scaring me like this sense I was like 7 qnd watch the Exorsist qnd even that was just the look over your shoulder kind of fear. Re7 VR works your mind into thinking the situation is real and pumps your body full of adrinaline and that mixed with the horror settings and themes just blows all else out of the water. The difference is so massive that I just see other horror titles as normal, action adventures or walking sims, Especially flat game which I'll never play again.

Oh man, for some reason I had forgotten about RE7. Yeah, RE7 totally wins in terms of being the scariest, but much of that has to do with how much technology has come, and how Capcom decided to go back to their roots with the series. What I found scariest with VR was how many of the jump scares are right in your face, and you can't always look away. I actually haven't finished the game yet, and only got as far as the second house with the "Saw-esque" brother character.
