This is a big part of it, really. Long hours at work and male fraternization have gotten way too overvalued. Male and female relationships in blossoming years is frowned upon sometimes in social circles if they believe it would interfere in school and work. They're becoming human pandas. This is the point when a machine-like society begins to collapse upon itself. 

This particular survey has been carried out every 5 years since 1952 by the National Institute of Population and Social Security Research, it's not like it's a new study created with the sole purpose of proving a point.

Japan lost 1 over million people in the last 10 years, their birth rate is way bellow the level needed to maintain the population, more people die than are born over there.

the linked portions in the OP seem to be pretty heavy on blaming sex hotels, sex robots and basically a lifestyle which doesn't focus on finding a (non robot) wife and having 2.4 kids with her. I'm sure if you wanted to shame people away from their waifu pillows and sexbots this survey is good ammo to quote to do so.

But hey, why would anyone run a survey and try to use the results of said survey to prove any points.... that would be unheard of right, I'm sure they just done this for the good of mankind, now we know just how many of the Japanese people are virgins and can judge them about their poor choices using the information in the survey, must suck for 50% of them being virgins right? Best stay away from sex hotels and anything which isn't focused on dating and marriage.

I would have quoted the 43% between 18-34

Half of under 40 would indicate anyone under 40 so people at the age you wouldn't want having sex.

How do you square this with what you said?  It not only contradicts your hyperbole but also deeply undercuts your overall accusation, doesn't it?

[edit:  Actually, now that I am taking a closer look at these articles, I'm beginning to suspect that the aforementioned 18-34 age group is the entire basis of their stories.  It's not hard for me to believe that they oversimplified "43% of 18-34" to "almost half of under 40".  If anyone has evidence contradicting this view, please let me know.]
