PS5??

Title for attention, what RAM are we to expect on the PS5? All previous sony consoles have jumped 16x RAM Each time but I can't see the PS5 having 128gb of RAM, what are we looking at realistically?

16GB RAM, 12GB For developers and 4GB for the system

16-24gb. I'll vote 16.

It's a tough one, I would see Sony going for as much RAM as is cost-effective whilst maintaining quality! 16 or even 32GB isn't out of the question when it's fairly standard for 16GB to be available for most computers these days with that increasing constantly!

I mean phones even have 6GB now!!

16 GB I think.

Honestly, memory wise PS4 is a beast. GDDR-6 has just barely been starting to put in use commercially so I'm not even sure if the architecture itself will get an upgrade or not.

I Remember people saying the ps4 would not have 8GB Off ram at the time so maybe we will be shocked again, I can see the PS5 being a late 2019 early 2020 release, considering some phones now have 8gb of RAM, 20+ RAM on a console 13-18 months away isn't to unrealistic

Personally I’m hoping for 24, but 16 seems most likely. 128 would just be insane on the pricing front

Depends on prices. If RAM is as expensive as it is now in 2020, I'll expect no more than 32 GB. If the prices get cheaper, I can imagine a PS5 with 64 GB.

Anything below that would be a disappointment. The console is supposed to last for five years or so. And even my Laptop, which I bought last year and isn't even high-end, has 32 GB RAM + 8 GB VRAM. So anything below 32 GB isn't enough to be declared Next-Gen in my book.

32 GB seems likely but no higher than that

What model is your laptop? Would love to see how much over $500 its MSRP is.

I'll go with 32 GB. 16 GB would probably be fairly little, considering that it's shared between the CPU and the GPU. 24 GB is a fairly atypical amount since it's not a power of two, and 32 GB is the maximum I can see Sony going with. It also happens to be a fairly balanced amount, I would say.
