It's the present for me. Ever since my wife and I switched to Google Project Find, first with the Nexus 5x and now with the Pixel 2, and Nintendo switch. We have like 5-7 usbc cables and none of them have broke like the standard Android cables and all charge insanely fast.

On flagships. Mid-end phones don't have it yet, and it's not like it's "premium" technology or anything.

I don't know about LG and HTC mid-end phones but the cheapest Sony phone is the Xperia L2 and it has USB-C, so has the Galaxy A3

That's great, and so true. A company will think that they are helping by creating a new standard that makes all others obsolete, but in reality, they are just part of the problem. In order for that to work, there needs to be an agreement by everyone in the industry to start using the same tech, and I don't know that humanity is capable.

My Droid Moto Z Force had been USB C for a couple of years. It was pretty cool knowing that no one else could steal my charger. That time is slowly coming to an end. Nintendo Switch uses USB C, too.

Yeah, my XA1 Plus also came with a Type C connector. Used the charger sometimes to charge my Switch and the charger of my Switch to charge my phone

USB-C is great and it can't get more popular soon enough. Also, I'm definitely expecting it to become THE USB standard sooner or later. It's already quite popular and its popularity most likely won't diminish at least.
