For 2017-2018 my vote goes to Resident evil 7 biohazard. Pretty scary and spooky game.

Project Firestart - 1989, C64 - considered by to be first survival horror game in modern sense. This was actually my first game of that type as well - really good game, heavily influenced by Alien.

Yeah, that's the one. Both C64 and ZX had lot of these small gems in various genres that were precursors to more famous games we remember from later.
