I mean, I just said to you why. It is not a disc based system, so it rules out hardware BC. Software wise, we still need to see dude.. they *just* launched their online nesflix thing and it is relatively new compared to the competition. So we will see. Near the end of its lifecycle, we will talk about it. Having said that, please don't talk about witch hunts and other nonsense, you're the one bringing in Nintendo and Microsoft into this convo while this thread is about Sony. Stop trying to turn it into something else and stop thinking that everything I say is an attack on Sony. All I am saying it that I have my doubts when it comes to Sony offering their legacy content. There is a goldmine waiting there and they are not fully taking advantage of it. And what I said to Twintail is that I think they are looking to see how they can monetize it. Why? Because from what I understand this is about software emulation only. Not hardware based. Furthermore, I have seen Sony being iffy on legacy content before, there was an exec arguing against BC before but then they went ahead with the PS1 classic mini. See how that is inconsistent?

I just said the ps4 couldn't possibly emulate the ps3. High end pc is required and even then results are not perfect. Sony are about to release their 1st legacy console. Nintendo have released quite a few. If anything Nintendo are the iffy ones. They've majorly cashed in on these classic consoles lately and I'd imagine even more are on their way.

No matter what position you're in you are in a rough place. You'd have to give major credit to the strides that Xbox took to push Sony to stuff like PS Now downloads. Or you'd have to give credit to Nintendo for making the retro console market a legitimate business. Doesn't really seem like Sony is ahead of the curve in either way.

This is a major facepalm. It is not about money dude, it is about doing a right strategy and a way to monetize it. Course they should make money on it lol.  Besides that, companies releasing mini consoles is not the point. The point is that Sony first had spoken against BC, and now turned around (most likely cause they saw the success of the NES and SNES mini). It isn't hard to figure out mate. Oh and Sony can emulate the ps3. If they make the effort, they can develop the emulation software to run them.

AFAIK, only Jim Ryan "spoken out against BC" and it came off more as downplaying what the XB1 had that the PS4 didn't have.

And he is kinda' obligated (As is anyone in a similar position) to do that.

It's called competition. Sony forced Microsoft to not release an online only console, start supporting indies again, drop kinect, drop the price and allow used games. They all force each other to be better.

I hope it has backward compability because my ps1 and ps2 are not working anymore
