Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

I voted 4 million.

I think the next PSVR version will be the one to buy; the current version is lacking in every aspect. It's basically a beta version, and the next one will probably benefit from AMD's navy multi-core GPU technology through "infinity fabric." Once that one get's announced with the PS5, it will probably consume any future sales of current version.

It’s pretty obvious you don’t own the headset. PSVR even beats the more expensive PCVR headsets in certain regards. 4 million is laughable. It’ll probably reach it by early next year already.

The only advantage I can think of is price. Otherwise a PC VR setup is a much better investment. I own a PSVR and I even bought a PS4 Pro a couple days later to see if it made any difference. It's smooth and responsive, but very blurry. The main issue that's holding it back is resolution.

PSVR is more comfortable to wear, has a better tech screen with better colours and higher refresh rate and has less SDE than Rift and Vive. It also has the AIM controller.

there are definitely areas where the others are better, but Sony did a damn good job and even improves on them in others. PSVR actually has MORE sub-pixels than Rift and Vive (minus Pro) btw.

Blurriness depends on the game as well...games like Moss, Wipeout or Astro Bot are sharp enough.

It's nice to hear people like the product. I'm not bagging on it, I'm sure Sony is not treating it as a gimmick for this generation, but I just not willing to pay the money to be their beta tester. They will most surely produce a more complete product the second time around.

My opinion is based on AMD's 2019 CES press release. I think it will foreshadow a lot of the tech the PS5 potential will have and how VR will be a much better experience with their next generation GPU architecture. PSVR is one of the key things where Sony can truly differentiate itself from the rest of the x86 gaming competitors (including PC). If they can provide the most smooth/convenient VR experience to the masses, they won't need to worry about loosing market share for being forced to integrate cross-play on free-to-play games.

My estimate is conservative, but it's probably because I think the PS5 will be announced next year. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if one of Sony's representatives make an appearance at AMD's CES Press conference, or vise versa.

Fair enough, but even then PSVR2 most likely won’t release simultaneously and PSVR will most likely keep getting produced for another two years, just like PS4. PSVR sales have been pretty consistent and if it takes another 8 month again for the next million it’s going to reach the 4 million in May 2019 already. It’s possible bundles, Black Friday and Christmas deals and games like Firewall and Astro Bot will make it reach that milestone even earlier.
