If you still enjoy PS1 games you'll be fine. The visuals look better in VR than screenshots suggest, however it is close to 720p ps3 graphics quality. That's ps3 level graphics all around you in stereoscopic 3D at flawless 60fps (doubled to 120fps for head tracking movement)

After a while you forget about the resolution and low detail. You're inside the game world, it's a game changer. Skyrim in VR does not look great in screenshots, it was good enough for 130 hours of fun, twice the time I spend in it in pancake mode on ps3. Plus it ran better and looked better than the ps3 version.

You might want a ps4 pro though, that helps with the resolution. Many VR games render at a higher resolution on the pro.

Oh I already have a Pro, bought it day one :P Just trying to find enough VR games to make the purchase of a headset worth it for me, since many of them seem to be smaller bite sized games, whereas I'm looking for at least full length experiences and not just something that plays off the novelty of VR for ten minutes or something, lol.

Also, how do I go about sound, do I have to use my own headset or does it come with earbuds or something? And if so how is the quality? I only ask because I can't be arsed faffing around with more wires, it already looks annoying as is, lol.

I use my 5.1 surround sound system. Headphones don't come close and the surround sound adjusts to whichever way you are currently looking as long as the camera is roughly where the center speaker is. You can use any headphones you like of course, there's a headphone jack hanging at about chest height when you are wearing the headset. It's where the controls are and the build in microphone. I can't remember if it came with earbuds. Screw those anyway, thumper without a subwoofer shouldn't be called thumper :)

Longer games are RE7, Skyrim and The Solus project.
Mid size games are Moss, Astrobot, Doom, Farpoint, AZ Sunshine, Mervils: A VR adventure, Windlands, Until Dawn: Rush of blood, Bound, Wayward sky.
Some shorter games can't be missed either like Superhot, Statik, Rez Infinite, I expect you to die.

Full game racers: DriveClub, Dirt Rally, Wipeout.
Arace: Thumper, Polybius, Pinball FX2
RTS: Tethered, Dino Frontier (short but pretty)

There are plenty games for PSVR now. Wait for a sale and load up!

@Bolded: At first I was like "... What the fuck, what did I do?!" before realising it's the name of a game, lol.

I don't have 5.1 surround in my room, however I do have a soundbar under the tele, do you think that'd be any good for the sound? Or would I be better off just saying fuck it and using a headset anyway? I'd probably end up wanting to buy a new one, preferably wireless, if I'm gonna' be using it for VR, to avoid wires and shit.

If I'm all moved into my new house before Black Friday and have any money spare, I'll see what's on sale... probably the best time to get one I reckon.

Not sure if you can do it wirelessly. The headset plugs into the headset wire since the breakout box is responsible for the 3D audio. It might sound weird if you bypass that.

A soundbar should work fine for most games where you generally face the camera. Even with 5.1 surround it doesn't sound perfect when you turn around due to the configuration of the speakers. I rather not wear headphones period. For me headphones are more isolating than wearing a helmet. Sometimes it's nice though when you want to crank up the volume without waking everyone up. Over the ear headphones mostly fit. Headphones are kinda needed when you play online as the microphone will cause feedback otherwise.

finally beat the game today, man that was fun. really hope there's a sequel on PSVR2 on ps5

So you take back what you said? :P you put anything on your YouTube account

I only take back what I said about it not going to like it due to third person VR. Overall the game is great and shows potential for the platforming genre. Nintendo should take notes because Mario would be great in this type of environment. Also I have one video up on my channel, uploading a world 1 playthrough of Astro Bot right now

So you really stick to your statement that it’s not really VR? No intent to support your channel then.

What type of games do you enjoy? There's quite a few VR games I've enjoyed like Farpoint,RE7 in VR is great, Astro Bot, Knockout League, if you like House Of The Dead then there's Until Dawn Rush Of Blood that plays like an on rail shooter like that

One thing I'm worried about when it comes to VR is the quality of the visuals, so far most games I've seen for PSVR have looked really bland and low res, which I can only imagine looks worse and offputting when you're wearing the headset, since you'd want the image to be as clear as possible. But meh, I can still sit and play PSOne games happily, so maybe it'll be a non-issue for me, I just don't want to spend so much money to find out I hate it or something, and I don't know anybody with one to try out first, or there's no demo stations near me either.

The opposite is the case actually. VR has size and depth perception which in team with headtracking ups immersion in such a way, you soon won’t even care for stupid resolution anymore. I played RE7 on PC in native 4K HDR and once I played it on my base PS4 in VR there’s no way I’m ever going back to the flat game.

About to go onto the last world and the challenges, I've been replaying all the levels in a world to 100% them, I don't want it to end. It's so damn good.

That's how I felt too when I beat it xD

I'm going to go back and do the challenges as well

Oh world 4 is putting some challenge into it. Loving it. The longer it takes the better. I'm actually glad it's not made by Nintendo as I would have been running out of lives lol. I 100% the levels as I go, keep replaying them until I have found them all. I don't want it to end either.

This game has made me a lot more excited about Dreams. Imagine if you can build levels like this in Dreams :)

How long did it take you to finish?

and Astro Bot as a character already seems to have been atleast partly recreated in Dreams
