Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Yokai Watch 3 is heading for the western markets! 3DS

This was long overdue imo.

"Yokai Watch 3, a new mainline game in the series, is launching exclusively for Nintendo 3DS on Feb. 8!"

They fucked up.

They should've skipped 3, remastered it for later on the Switch; and released Yo-Kai Watch 4 as soon as possible on the Switch.

I WON A BET AGAINST AZUREN! WOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

:3

This is great news… but it will take around 2 years for it to be released in the west. I don't know about most people, but I already moved from 3DS to Switch. I would gladly play it during the time the switch wasn't out yet, but … now? I'm not sure.

Hope that YW4 won't be released here at the end of the Switch's lifecycle….

Good news that it's coming but they really need to be quicker than this.

Its comeing early feb 2019.... so like 4-5months from now.
And I think it makes sense, you cant have the 4th on the Switch, but not give people any way to play the 3rd, and not expect it to effect sales of the 4th.

Their f*** up was takeing this long to decide if they wanted to port it, it shoulda happend alot earlier on.

Remastering from the 240p (3ds) to 1080p (Switch), would take alot of reworking of assets... it'd be like makeing a entirely new game almost.
Porting the 3ds version over is probably something thats doable in a few months of translation work.

What I mean is, it was released dec 2016 in Japan and it's coming winter 2018 for Europe and feb 2019 for the US. They take way too long to localize the games.

They havnt used all that time trying to localize it.
It was probably never supposed to get localised, but someone decided since they re doing a 4th one for the western markets, porting the 3rd would be a good idea.
I wouldnt be surprised if they only just started translateing it like a months ago.

They started localizing Busters in late Q3 of 2017 and Yokai Watch 3 in summer 2018. The delay came from a huge shake-up with the merchandise and anime. They fired the entire cast of the show and hired cheaper (and considerably worse) voice actors. Meanwhile, Hasbro practically dropped the series and stopped manufacturing the toyline, which was actually doing really well for the series. On top of that, the cult mobile game Yokai Watch Wib-Wob was shut down and the fans were forced to use the Japanese version called Puni Puni.

At this point, I’m just glad they’re continuing the franchise outside of Japan.

By saying that it took them too long to localize it didn't have to mean that they started with the localization right after they released it in Japan. Whatever the reason, they should get their act together. The first 2 games also took very long to be released in the west. And if they still don't get it together then we will have to wait another 2 years or longer for them to release it here. Until then, most people probably won't care anymore.
