Big JRPG games only you mean. The smaller and niche ones are starting to sell more on Switch |
What are you talking about? The p4 has a huge amount of big and small jrpg's,if there selling better or not isnt the point.

Many of those are on or coming to Switch, FYI.

An RPG is an RPG - regardless of where it was developed or it's sub-genre. (ARPG, MMO RPG, ORPG, blah blah blah blah blah....) |
Heh, I agree. I am not really an Elder Scrolls fan, but I see no reason why Skyrim shouldn't be lumped in with all the other games in the OP. They are all RPG's.
And really I see Switch more as the console for fantasy themed games in general, because I see Zelda as the trend setter. Breath of the Wild made the Switch a hot console right out of the gate. Now all of these other games are basically selling to the Zelda fan that wants another big fantasy world to play in.
But yeah, I have agree with the basic premise of the OP. The Switch is going to be the definitive console for JRPG's (or RPG's in general). Zelda whetted everyone's appetites for huge fantasy worlds.
You've missed out quite some titles:
Town (Gamefreak)
I Am Setsuna
TWEWY
Final Fantasy X HD Remaster
Final Fantasy X-2 HD Remaster
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age
Inazuma XI
Yakoi Watch
Neptunia
World of Final Fantasy
SOA:FB
Tales of Vesperia
Shin Megami Tensei V
Shining Resonance Refrain
Romancing Saga
Disgaea
Disgaea 5
Little Dragon's Cafe
Langrisser Remakes
Golf Story
Crystal Chronicles R
DQ Builders
DQ Builders 2
When adding these to the OP it becomes quite the selection for a platform not even two years old.

Not true. Ps4 has remote play that works with android phones. And every jrpg won't be ported to it and made for it. Ps4 will have a lot the switch won't get. |
It only works with Xperia smartphones, not all android devices.

Ya it accomplished a lot in two years, something I have not seen in quiet sometime. It is my go to for JRPGs and SRPGs at this stage.

You said the crown, i though you mean the sales and the customers of all PS4 JRPGs because it seems not really the case. Also, PS4 came out since 2013, right? Let wait till 2022 to see how much JRPG it gets.

If one is going based on catalog and pure volume, the PC trumps both. It is something interesting that people here are neglecting. In the end it will always be about preference and not this console war BS that some users constantly make these threads out to be.
I personally love the rise of SRPGs/Mid Tier JRPGs lately. I hope it continues. Whats awesome is while some games do not get localized in NA, they are getting released in Singapore and I can import them. Playing SD Gundam Generations lately on the PS4 and Octopath Traveler on the switch currently.

Yeah, enjoy phones with action RPG is not something i will recommend. Switch also will have a lot JRPG that ps4 won't have. |
I was only making the point to show jrnation was wrong. The vita also does the remote play. It also works with the Xperia tablet so a screen similar in size to switch. But remember you can connect a dualshock controller to the devices making remote play actually really good.
Edit : i tried gta v on the go and it works really well. I also played bf4 online and actually got quite a few kills. It's quite a unique feature being able to play such powerful games on the go.
AngryLittleAlchemist said: Hm I don't know. Still seems like the 3DS was better and definitely the DS as well. We're too early in the consoles life to tell but I think the DS will probably still be the king of portable RPG consoles when all is said and done. |
Well, right now it's not much of an argument due to volume. That's going to be fixed as long as the games don't bomb. They'll continue to port PS4 games to Switch as long as fans keep buying them.
That said, almost every game in the OP is already on another platform. Give it time and it'll surpass DS/PSP as it'll probably pass up 3DS/Vita sometime next year.
