Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Switch is becoming quite the machine for JRPGs and SRPGs.

Not true. Ps4 has remote play that works with android phones. And every jrpg won't be ported to it and made for it. Ps4 will have a lot the switch won't get.

The Switch was always going to take the JRPG crown from the 3DS. It was only a matter of time. The 3DS had to compete with the Vita in Japan for all those JRPGs. Now that Nintendo has a monopoly on the handheld market (while having no competition in Japan) it will sweep up the rest of the JRPGs sooner or later. It is only a matter of time.

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true

"JRPGS and SRPGS"

I miss the 90's when they were just called "RPG's"... The need to over complicate or over classify genre's makes me wanna bang my head on a desk. An RPG is an RPG - regardless of where it was developed or it's sub-genre. (ARPG, MMO RPG, ORPG, blah blah blah blah blah....)

Hm I don't know. Still seems like the 3DS was better and definitely the DS as well. We're too early in the consoles life to tell but I think the DS will probably still be the king of portable RPG consoles when all is said and done.

It is like Cartoon and Animes.

People don't call American Cartoons Animes.

While I'd like to agree with that statement, its severe lack of many small to medium JRPGs still makes me reticent to give the Switch the JRPG crown. The 3DS and Vita had way more of those, even if they weren't major titles like those above.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Sure, whipping out a portable device and playing in mere seconds and remote play is the same.

Why is the best Switch RPG (Final Fantasy X) missing from your list?

You're missing an I. Before the X.

You guys are talking only about switch being a handheld right? Right? Because clearly ps4 has the jrpg crown for quit a while now.

Yeah, enjoy phones with action RPG is not something i will recommend. Switch also will have a lot JRPG that ps4 won't have.

Big JRPG games only you mean. The smaller and niche ones are starting to sell more on Switch
