Not to take anything from it, but it hasn’t really closed any gaps. It is more that GT stumbled with Sport and sees far less releases than Horizon and Motorsport. I’d use our data, but it isn’t as pinpoint with a series like GT.

If GT stumbled with Sport, wouldn't that mean the gap HAS been closed? Horizon 3 has double the player count of GT Sport, which shows that Horizon has caught up and surpassed GT in popularity. 

The territory that plays the most racing games, the UK, had a better debut and legs for Horizon 3, by far.

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

I'd say that GT and Forza are about as equal when it comes to popularity but I think the Forza ip is growing when it comes to popularity while GT is receding. In a few years Forza will probably be more popular if the quality of the games stay consistent.

As far as legs go, yes, Horizon 3 has been fantastic. Until the next proper release of a GT game, it is in the air, I'd say. Makes no real difference to me, as I buy and enjoy both series.

True, I guess it's more fair to judge Horizon against the inevitable Gran Turismo 7 more, once it comes out.
