Forums - Gaming Discussion - OMG Streets of RAGE 4, guys!!! C'mon, why is no one talking about it????

I don't like the character designs. In the 90s they were cool. Now, Axl and Blaze look like a homeless guy and a hooker.

I played and owned all three back in the days. Two and three I played countless times with my friends. The thing that took SoR beyond its competitors was the music and art.

SoR music is some of the best I've come across. Although limited by 16bit tech, they made that console produce some amazing sounds.

The levels in SoR were better than most generic levels in a scrolling beat em up. More thought had gone into them and how you could interact with them. It just did everything that little bit better.

I'm excited and nervous about the new one. The at style is very kiddish and I don't think they have the music. That's two out of 3 ingredients they are missing to make this a proper SoR game. It feels this studio can only do one type of art style and in wonder boy it worked, but this ain't wonder boy.

Yaman, I'm with you. As much as I'm hyped for this I think I have to lower my expectations due to disappointment. I'll want them to top SOR2 but I don't think that could ever happen.

I agree on the music. Some of the best in video games, even to this day. When VGC had that thing about every one placing their top lists of the best music in games, I swear I think I was the only one who included SOR2 in my top 10.

The more I look at the new game, yeah, the more it does come off as rather too kiddish. Not cool for a game that's been so gangsta and street gritty. It comes off as looking too squeaky clean. I'll always wait and see how things go but yeah, I'm just hoping for the best this somehow turns out in everyone's favour. I said it before, and if they do not get the music right I don't think I can support the game. Basically, no Yuzo Koshiro no buy. ALL the game's had him as the composer. It'll be like Final Fantasy losing Nobuo Uematsu. And it's true, the franchise DID lose something without his music. It didn't quite have that FF quality to it anymore amongst other things.

They should have done it like with wonder boy where they remade the game and remade the music by bringing it up to date. If they screw up SoR4, we won't see another SoR probably for another 20 years.

I hope both Sega and this developer are reading comments as the point about the music and art style has been brought up several times across gaming forums etc.

Yep, and that my friend would be a travesty. It's amazing that after all this time Sega somehow NOW finally decides to bring this back. They can NOT afford to screw this up. They gotta get it right. And yes, they better be listening to the feedback so far. The art style I can live with, crappy music that doesn't have the SOR feel I cannot. In many ways, the music WAS the game.
