What YouTube money? Last I checked most content creators flipped Nintendo off over that.

Many did, but some "partnered" up with them.

How'd that work out for Nintendo though?

Negative press, but free money.

If they can get 10 mil subscribers, then that's a minimum figure as there will be quite a lot of people who will pay monthly or quarterly. Still, Sony has 35 mil PS+ subscribers for $59 each ... that's $2 billion.

So you're saying that with that, and the Switch Online subscription, Nintendo is turning into EA?

No no no. They are greedy, not pure evil.

But they're getting away with a bad business practice despite how loudly people denounce it.

Yes. Some companies are just easier to forgive than others.

Yeah, I think Nintendo wants to eventually be Sony in this regard. They're easing in the pool withe this service. I think eventually they'll improve the service and offer more titles from SNES-Wii for $50-$60 a year with separate tiers.

Like Nintendo because they make games we love. EA not so much, at least to me.

And also because EA is a big third party company. Their bad decisions affects more people.

That's not how you calculate profit. That's a revenue calculation. But, there certainly are significant expenses incurred as well for administration, Tech, marketing, and tons of other stuff.

With that said, we know that these kinds of things are high margin, which is why companies like Microsoft keep pushing games as a service. So, there might be $120mm to $150mm of gross profit in there.

Also, I doubt that half of switch owners will pay for the online service. I certainly won't. Nintendo just doesn't have as many of the traditionally online games. They have Mario Kart, Splatoon, and smash. I don't know about smash so much, but Splatoon and Mario Kart can be enjoyed quite a bit without online play. I played the hell out of Mario Kart 8 on Wii U, and almost never played online. I'm certainly not the only person.
