Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo. Anti-Consumer.

Some great games, horrible company.
It has always been that way.

But why would you sell your Switch because of that? Did you honestly bought a Switch to play online? What? Smash?
Kinda of a overreaction, just don't subscribe to the service, I still don't have PS+ as I still just don't care for playing online.

Horrible company is a bit harsh I think. They have been very greedy this gen though.

Kudos for having the balls to create this thread on this site. Completely agree with your post, the truth about the anti-consumer policies that Nintendo follows have to be pointed out to everyone. Hopefully you'll have more fun with your 4k TV and be happy with your PS4 Pro on it.

If you think Nintendo is anti-consumer, just wait 'til you get a whiff of PlayStation's anti-consumer moves.

You're comparing it to a service that costs 3 times as much..... It also used to be free on PlayStation too.

I think ultimately, Sony doing the paid online with a brand new console launch is far more digestible than Nintendos decision to do it post launch of a new console.

At least PS3/ Vita still offers free online.

Nintendo told everyone it was coming well in advance, even delaying it and its significantly cheaper. Not sure how it can get more digestible than that

Paying $399 for a console then paying $60 for online seems quite a bit more congestive.

Can I get more of a description of how greedy they are? I honestly just want to hear what people think makes them greedy. I'm...not the most financially endowed individual but I can afford most of what I want from them and don't feel cheated.

Thanks for this thread, man. I just realized I have just two days to set aside my *bbaaaaaaa!!!* subscription money.

Well the bare minimum online for starters. Full priced games that are 4-6 years old with minimal added content. Indie looking games like Sushi Striker being like 50 bucks. The accessories like the pro controller, the dock, the joycons etc.

Those Joycons are expensive. Very expensive.

Decent satire. Needs to go further though.

It is not satire. I am honestly sick of the ports, sick of the greed, sick of pretending like indie games are good to justify my purchase. If this seems like a joke to you, you need to expand your horizons and be more open minded bro.

Ports doesn't equals no new game tho, if there was no ports i'm pretty sure the planning wouldn't be more heavy with original games since they don't give these to main team of developpers. Greed, like what ? Online subscription ? Well they aren't the only one. If there is anything they proposed a free online last gen and the console floppped so it doesn't matter, they could have made it expensive with the Wii U with a subscription while Sony and MS were charging their users but they didn't and it didn't matter since no one cared.

How can you used nintendo pushing indies as a bad thing.. idk there is truly good indies out there. I remember when the PS4 came out and the ONLY game that was worth it was Resogun lmao.

I don't understand how complaining on stuff like this is being open minded. If there is anything, you just are complaining about everything without thinking the business plan behind it. Sony got more money with their PSN than Nintendo with a fucking successful console. Yes it sucks but it will get better since the thing is new and they will add stuff and more virtual console games along the way.

It's not that deep man, it's a console, not your life. If you are that concerned over 1.30$/month and ports for people that didn't play the games on Wii U cause the console was trash, which doesn't affect you at all since it's not affecting the number of new games but actually paying for the developpement of new projects, then you have a problem.

Sure you can say the online sucks cause it's true. But when you look at it, with a true open mind, it's just video game man and not even 2 dollars a month.. idk that's how i think.

Satire is dead on this site.

Fair enough. But with the tech in something like the Joycons/pro controller I see why they're priced that way. They have to make some kind of profit on them. Same with a game like Sushi Striker. I don't know the budget for that game but price points are made to help retailers make something off of physical games. Digital, now that's greedy. I have to admit. The fact that none of their games go on sale on the eshop is a bit greedy...but at the end of the day...people are buying it.

My thing is, price points aren't just pulled out of Nintendo's ass or Sonys...or anyone elses...at least I hope they aren't. PS4 Dualshock 4 was not always 38 bucks, the price eventually went down. Same with Wii U Pro controllers. Switch Pro will do the same once parts get cheaper. As for 4-6 year old ports I assume you mean DCKTF and MK8 Deluxe. I agree. The Dock also has no business being 80 bucks, true. But I guess since I never needed to buy another dock, joycons, I never really thought of that as a cost I had to incur.

Edit: But for online...is it really greedy if they're charging a 1/3 of the price of the competitors? I kind of wouldn't expect a PSN level service for a price point that isn't that of PSN or XBL. But that's just me. As far as it being bare bones...I mean, it does online, cloud saves, free games like PSN. Granted the quality of the service differs. If it was $60 and was bare bones compared to the competition I'd be rioting but as is...eh, it's cheap.
