Well different places may get different hardships... I don't remember PSN down for more than once this whole year.

But yes the OS is being slow for me and PStore takes a life to work, but that for me is more a problem of what KBG wants (more things in the OS) than what I want (it being bare and fast).

I would prefer as little of an OS as possible. The 20 sec cold boot start from the ps4 pro is already kinda long. All I use is start game and the capture gallery, while occasionally checking something in the internet browser which works fine with a quick double tap of the ps button.  Netflix is on the tv nowadays. PS store works pretty fast here. I only use it to check the VR games and add the monthly ps+ games to my library.

I am getting more tempted to buy an X, with 3 FH games. The bundles here suck though. There's a $600 Fallout 76 or Battlefield V or NBA 2K19 or PUBG bundle, no Forza one. $600 standalone as well, $200 more than I paid at launch for ps4, $100 more than at launch for ps4 pro. (Spiderman pro bundle is also still $500) A $499 FH 4 bundle would tempt me yet it seems price cuts for the pro versions are not on the horizon?

Anyway no hurry. Too many other games to play right now. Plus the difference between checkerboard 4K and real 4K is lost on me from the couch. It's just that the X promises to run FH4 at 60fps in 1080p, which would be nice.

Man I have no idea why PS Store is so buggy and slow to me. But it is a shitty thing. I just don't get pissed because I look at it just once a week for deals and use it for like under 10 min.

Well you can wait for Black Friday, considering it been 1 year since launch I imagine they will have some good deals this holiday and FH may be part of it. Well and X1X won't do real 4K for most games, but I agree with you that depending on the configuration you won't find much difference. Even DF have said that the use of checkerboard 4K on Pro was quite well done.

I find it odd that you don't care about ANY exclusives on the consoles but have X1 and PS4... if you only care about multiplats than your PC will play all of them better than any console, and since I doubt you burn money you probably care about some exclusive to buy these consoles.

I wouldn't say it is odd. Certain platforms fit better in certain areas of my home.

I.E. Loungeroom is my Xbox One X.
Computer Room is obviously my PC's.
Bedroom is the Playstation.

And there is a reason why those devices are in those areas.

Xbox One X is a media powerhouse, so it fits better with my theater system.
My PC's are powerful, but loud and hot... So better off in a separate room.
The Playstation 4 has more "lazier" games that I like and faster install times so I can drop a game in and start gaming faster. (Bedtime is a premium for me.)

Some days I might just wanna sit in the computer room, sometimes just lay in bed and play the Playstation... Or sit in the loungeroom with friends on the Xbox One X.

And I really don't play any console exclusives, not because they aren't good... But they just don't interest me, but that's just me.

Well I find a very odd reasoning since you certainly could have your PC as a central "server" to play in the 3 areas, but sure each one have their own needs. But if you don't like any exclusives then that is your option =]

People need to stop thinking that PS+ is paying for servers. They're not charging you because they can't afford good servers without it. They're charging you because they can.

That much is true. PSN was free for MP in PS3 and that didn't made the XBL be considered bad to customer nor did it transferred owners to PS3. So Sony simply saw a lot of additional resources with little backlash and instead of great games to justify PS+ now they only have MP and a big revenue with great margin.

PlayStation has finally drove me away.

For the last 1 1/2 they have completely abandoned PS4. They have stopped supporting any of their services (outside of PlayStation Vue), PSN is down more and more every month, and the OS is getting worse and worse. What the hell are we paying for with PS+?

Microsoft on the other hand has completely revamped the XBO this year. The OS has made massive strides, and is now well ahead of the PS4 OS. They upgraded Edge on XBO, and it now functions almost 1 to 1 with PC (just needs Mouse Support). With that upgrade they brought the ability to download Files, Photos, Music, Videos, Zips, Rars, etc., and they are all accessable right on XBO via the File Explorer and through multiple apps on the Xbox Store.

Their Video store offers 4K HDR content, and just joined Video Anywhere. They are offering Cross Play, which I could care less about, but at least they are not hunkering down in their cave. XBO is gainging more productivity and quality of life apps and features every week.

Then we have B/C, Xbox Play Anywhere, and Game Pass. Game Pass, for $10 a month gives access to all 1st party games with new releases available on day one. It is absolutely ridiculous value.

PlayStation has been my main Computing and Entertainment device since 1998. I have bought played, watched, learned, ran business, and more through PlayStation. I have always bought all of my media, and 3rd party games through Sony, even when things were rough, because Sony always delivered new features, innovation, and continual improvement of the products I purchased. That has changed in the last few years. My Bravia's have incradible Picture Quality, but the OS is the worst I have ever used. PS Vita was dropped, and Xperia's are absolute garbage. Now PlayStation and PlayStation Services are going to trash.

For the first time in 20 years, I am changing my main platform. Microsoft has won me over after 17 years of hard work. They have become open, started listening to consumers, and partners. They are building a Platform, that can continually grow, and reach across the entire spectrum of electronics. They have a vision, and they have been open to the public with where they want to go. This is the company that I want to support. So starting this month my $450 a month entertainment budget is moving to Microsoft.

Perhapps Sony can win me back with PS5, but I am not betting on it. I have watched them piss away potential for to long. At this point I am see them closing themselves off, and killing PlayStation, just like they have every other successful product they have ever made. They will refuse to expand PlayStation's  feature set to offer standard functionallity in todays devices, and people will slowly but surely abandon ship.

Yes, the AAA single player games are great, but the rest is terrible. It will catch up to them.

sorry you feel this way.  If you made this decision when the PS3 era with the PSN breach was there, I would have understand you. But it seems you have had just bad luck with your latest purchases and you expected something differently from your PS4.

Currently I think Sony is doing really a good job, certainly with the Xperia phones, Bravia TV and PS4. It seems that you have an other experience then many other people have with their Sony equipment or you have an other expectation with the product. The PS4 does exactly what to expected with and the support on the Xperia and Bravia's is very good and the products are very good generally. Cross-Play between Playstation and PC is already a fact for years (although you  mention it's not important for you, but why mentioning it then?) Next to that if you expect real cross-play on Xbox Live, please don't be dissapointed as also Xbox people can't play with PS people and guess on which platform there are more players?  Yes, Sony dropped the PS vita, but that was with a reason (it didn't sell enough and I argue with that they are the cause themselves), this would also happen with MSFT if something doesn't sell well, see the original Xbox but also Zune, Nokia phones etc also they discontinue services and start new test services which are not succesful and will be stopped in the end.

Yes Game Pass for Xbox is a nice feature(the only real feature which is different from the PS4 as a console) and we are missing this on Playstation. But on the otherhand I will only take Game Pass for Forza, for a few month and then stop it or MSFT will release another exclusive I think is worth playing for a few month.  And only if this service is very very succesful they will continue. If not they will stop it or increase the monthly fee.

I hope you will not regret your decision and hopefully have fun with your new main console. I'm a lucky guy to have both and enjoy both advantages!

next to my previous reaction. Xbox Live also has down times (in my opinion quite often) and maybe your downtime can be because of your internet setup?

Yeah you stick it to Sony! Watch them crawling them back you, begging you that this time it will be different, but you won't fall for that. You're too sharp, too experienced, too rational. You know that Kinetic on XB1 is getting ready for that big comeback, that second wind. Those AR glasses for minecraft are coming any second now and change it all.

But yeah, enjoy the next forza, it looks good.

The bolded is blatently false. PC has some great strategy titles for sure, but Switch and/or PS4 blow it out of the water in terms of games library. This gen there's only 8 PC exclusives I'm really interested in, and that's if you count Civ 6 (coming to Switch), Cities Skylines (also coming to Switch), and Warhammer Total War (Obsolete now that Total War II is out.)

Then you have to deal with the fact that PC is infested with DRM. Steam, Uplay, Windows Store, and Origin are all DRM. Windows is nagware, as well as spyware.

Finally, a $1000 PC will absolutely not get you 4K, unless you are buying shoddy parts, or cutting massive corners.

He's talking about Xbox 1 X, not PC.

Also the talk of exclusives are subjective in terms of their quality. PC has exclusives of it';s own that aren't on console and it isn't just 8 either, Pem can tell you that.

Consoles are also their own form of DRM when you look at the big picture, and millions of people are fine using Steam, Uplay, Origin, Epic and Battle.net. THe spyware part is absolutely bogus though. Claiming that those clients are infested with spyware is insane.

My PC is just over 1k by itself and has been doing fine for itself so far at 1440p max settings and going well above 60fps. 4k is not the rule. Also PC isn't completely full of shoddy ports either.

Pem and I have had that argument before. He wants to count every single PC game made since 1980, and then try to stack it up against a single console generation's library. That's like an XB1 fanboy trying to argue that since XB1 is backwards compatible you have to count every XBO, 360, and XB1 game that isn't playable on PS4, when comparing libraries of the XB1 and PS4.

Consoles have DRM, but there is still an option to have a physical DRM free version with almost all console games. PC lacks that option for most of its library. I was talking about Windows being spyware, not Steam/Uplay/Origin. And Windows is definitely spyware/nagware.

Yeah I can see 1440p from a 1K build. But 4k? Not happening.

Like I have said before, my PS4 Pro sits 12 inches from my Xbox One X. I love them both but my Xbox One is my "main". There's a bunch of little things that it does better. It's home to almost all of my third party purchases over the last year (with a few going to the Switch). Nothing wrong with liking both. The Xbox One serves my personal purposes and fits my particular tastes but if someone asked me which console they should buy, I'd still tell them to get a PS4.

At the end of the day,Bickering in these forums won't change the fact that we forum dwellers in this site doesn't even amount to 0.0001%
of people who actively play video games in this world, so no matter how much we think/thought that our opinions matter, it really does not.
I'm sure a lot of OP's gripes and his pros/cons, is a non issue to Majority of the video game players the world over.

Last gen the difference between 720p and 1080p on a native 1080p screen was very noticeable. However this gen is all about motion blur and post processing effects, film grain, fxaa, and other effects that make the picture soft. Plus on a 4K screen scaling works much better anyway. That combined with the fact that my tv 'only' increased 1.25x in size while the resolution doubled, it's hard to tell what resolution it's at unless I sit right up close.

However buying an XBox One S at this point seems a bit pointless. Sub 1080p is definitely not good enough anymore. I'll keep an eye on on BF.

Does the PS store work better for you on your laptop?

I don't have a PS4, and I've not touched my Xbox One in ages since I got the Switch.

And that's totally okay. Whatever platform has the games you want to play. It's your time and your money. You don't have to please anyone else.

Almost all console games? The majority of PS4, XBO and Switch releases are only digital (of course with DRM) without a physical option.

And PS4 OS, Xbox OS and Switch OS are all definitely spyware which all collect data of your gaming behavior (how many hours played in which game, which trophies/achievements/stamps unlocked, how many hours online...). They are also nagware: "You can't open the eShop/PSStore... now. You first have to upgrade the firmware".
