Are you buying the Nintendo Online Service?

Yes 103 60.95%

No 54 31.95%

Undecided 12 7.10%

Splatoon 2 is the only online game that I play on Switch and I didn't even play it that much compared to Splatoon 1.

So it's basically a paywall for just one game for me right now, but it's also just 1.67€ per month with a 12 months sub.
Maybe I get it or wait for Smash. Or maybe I find people to play NES games like SMB3 online, that could be fun.

But overall not happy to pay for an online infrastructure that is worse than Wii U's.

Mostly likely (voted yes).

When I buy a Switch, I want to be able to play Smash and Splatoon online.

Yes. Finally they offer dedicated online servers for Splatoon. I'm ready to pay for that.

And then we have Mario Kart, Mario Tennis and a few other games where I want to use at least online rankings.

Are you sure about that? They will charge you and continue using P2P networks

I also just found out that my smartphone is not supported by the Nintendo Switch Online App. :D

You could always try the apk and circumvent that limitation.

Yes. Mainly for online play and cloud saves. Also $20 per year is nothing. We're talking less than 40c per week, or a nickel(ish) a day.

I will at some point. Only reason I won't soon is because I won't have much access to internet anymore so there wouldn't be a point. But if I still had internet yes of course I absolutely would, and whenever I get it again I will absolutely get the subscription. Play games online and NES games (and hopefully lots more old games later) with online functionality! For $20 a year that's a no-brainer. $20 a year is nothing.

Could care less about cloud saves though I did just read the statement on it from Nintendo and I don't see what people are freaking out about, it doesn't definitely say they delete the cloud saves when you cancel your subscription like everyone is saying - it just says cloud saves won't be available if you stop your subscription, which makes perfect sense that you wouldn't be able to access a feature behind the paywall when you aren't paying.

Probably only for a month to try the service and NES games.

Scratch that... I just saw in the FAQ that there will be a one week trial. Enough time to check out all features and NES games.

"Can I try the Nintendo Switch Online service before I become a member?" - "One free, seven-day trial per Nintendo Account is available through Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch."

So I fall in the "undecided" category for now.

Has Nintendo already announced the capacity of the cloud save storage?

As far as I know it is up to 12 GB with PS+ (1 GB PS3 + 1 GB Vita + 10 GB PS4).

On Xbox it is... unlimited... or limited?

"How much cloud storage do I have?" - "On Xbox One, each game is provided storage. As a user's game library grows, so does their cloud storage, and an Xbox Live Gold subscription isn’t required. This gives Xbox One users unlimited cloud storage based on their library size."

"Can I copy all my saves to the cloud?" - "If you're an avid gamer, you might run out of cloud storage space. If so, free up space by deleting unwanted game saves. Or, keep playing without saving to the cloud."

yeaqh, i play splatoon and i will get smash, so i need it. and anyway... 20$...

I'm getting it, purely for cloud saving. I lost all my save data last year. I can't go through that again.

Anyone have seen any confirmation that Gold Coins can be used as a payment? If that’s the case, my subscription will paid itself next year 😂

Taken from Nintendos Q&A page: Gold Points can be used when purchasing a membership in the Nintendo eShop. They cannot be used for auto-renewal.

So that’s one less reason to complain about the pricing.
