This is pretty sad. Better get petitions for Sony and Xbox as well, because they also delete your cloud saves as space is needed when your sub lapses, and yet cost three times as much.

They cost 3 times as much, but are more than 3 times better. I did the science work using a series of models and equations, and it's true.

The service is going to move forward no matter how much we complain or sign petitions. Compare making no money off of 20 million users getting free online to making some money off of 1 million paying and you'll see why Nintendo doesn't care.

interesting...

I think the best you'll get is a cancelation of the service.

That way you're gonna have to do multiplayer locally, which is the essence of Nintendo anyway.

I know I was gonna get it so that I could still do Splatoon matches and Salmon Run, but I kinda like what you're doing. What really bothers me is that you can't get the Switch NES controllers or cloud saving without paying for online.

Well, thanks for your kind words ^^

Yeah, that's one of my main complaints: cloud save is behind a paywall. That wouldn't be SO bad if we had an alternative way of making backups like we could on previous Nintendo consoles. But... we can't do that either. They put us against the (pay)wall: you pay... or pray for your Switch to not break or get stolen.

I’m actually happy with their online program. Plus, maybe Nintendo will actually start investing in online play now that it has it as a revenue source. Honestly man, you get what you pay for and Nintendo’s online has always been a joke. Now I feel like they are on a good path!

If only a million people... even let's say 2 or 3 out of 20 purchase the service... no matter how much money Nintendo makes: it will be a failure for both themselves and the investors. Im pretty sure both parts expect a significant percentage of Switch owners to purchase the online service. That means they expect a minimum amount of profits. What happens if they don't even get close to those numbers? I'll tell you what happens: they'll have to reconsider their strategy.

You think? Has Playstation online improved since PS Plus is mandatory? Are Splatoon 2 or Mario Kart 8 Deluxe running better than their Wii U counterparts? I don't think so...

You expect them to improve the infrastructure, yet they have shown zero interest in doing so. Why do you think they haven't talked about improvements in stability and smoothnes while playing online? Wouldn't that be a big selling point? They got nothing, man. It's the same as before, but now you have to pay for it.

PlayStation online improved exponentially, yes.  Also, are you trying to judge how switch games perform before the service has even launched?  They have shown zero interest in improving their infrastructure because it was only cost, no revenue.  That’s one of the things that I like about this is they will now have a reason to build their infrastructure.  If they don’t do enough to justify the cost then the program will naturally fail.  That means better infrastructure and more importantly games that will actually use it.

Cry more. Your tears are delicious.

It's still a dishonest practice, keeping us from backing up our save data WITHOUT a subscription service.

Makes sense to me, those cloud servers cost money and they are an ongoing expense.  That’s why cloud storage usually is a monthly fee for most things.
