They are comparable though.

yea but my main point is no switch thirdparty game has crossed 2 million.

I still think Octopath has a chance, but the Switch hasn't had that many big third party games for it to even have a chance to cross 2 million. Maybe when more third party exclusives happen it will be more common, or when ever the next monster hunter drops lol

Thats maybe top just currently, with bigger install base and more time some game is in sale stronger sales will be, Octopath is already around 1.5m and it will pass 2m LT easily.

no it won't, it shipped 1 million, it will probably ship another 600k best case scenario. sales are pretty much dead now.

I wouldn't be sure like you, not long after launch it shipped 1m with huge stock problem, its not dead, its was 6. best selling Switch game in US last month. Dont forget Switch still has only around 20m install base, how install base is rising it will be must buy for every new Switch owner thats JRPG fan.

It's fucking stupid they hold off the software chart for the another few weeks. Mediacreate, famitsu and dengeki put these money grabbing clowns to shame. I wish they'd bring in legislation forcing them to be more transparent.

Yeah, it's too bad with all the secrecy regarding US sales numbers.

Long live Media Create, Growth from Knowledge (GfK), etc.

Well looks like the Switch has stabilized, they aren't great sales but not bad either. It's only 1 and a half years old and it's doing ehhh. As long as the console has weak third party support (definitely never will have good third party support) and a bad games calendar the Switch will do pretty much this, which is ok.

"Ehhh" isn't how I'd describe it. They're good sales. The only other consoles to clearly outpace the Switch in their second year in the U.S. were the PS2 and Wii. I guess compared to them, everything else could be described as "ehhh," but those consoles were absolute beasts in their best years.

I agree. I wish Media Create would open a U.S. branch to track sales here. Hell, if I had the money and business acumen to do so, I'd contact MC and try to help do just that myself. NPD's secrecy is frustrating, especially after years of transparency. Meanwhile, it's easy to find box office revenues, home video sales, book sales (to an extent), and other sales figures that aren't tracked and published by NPD.

Exactly. It doesn't make any sense.

and to think that NPD used to give exact sales numbers too.

Does anyone know when they stopped giving numbers?
