Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Final Fantasy is getting back on Nintendo platform with a bang (8 FF games annouced for Switch), same games coming to XB1/PS4

I was so happy to see Final Fantasy XII in the Direct, and then they announced FFIX as well! I've also been wanting to replay FFX for a long time, and I kind of want to play FFVII again as well so, I guess I'll play a whole lot of Final Fantasy next year!

VIII already had a PC version the Steam version is the same game.

It's not the exact same. I have both copies.
The Steam version has a multitude of enhancements over the original PC release. I.E. Higher resolutions, new API support, cleaned up 2D art and video assets.

Yeah but it's not really a different game or platform so to speak so I doubt the same porting issues they have for console versions would arise with it.

I think your thinking Crystal Tools. That is the engine that SE dropped. Luminous Engine is the current engine  SE is using. Its exclusively being used in FF15 and more than likely Tabata's new game. The reason why SE is using UE4 was because the designers of Luminous asked SE to not share it with anybody until they done with it testing it with 15. As for the rest of your post, read my response above :)

All of SE's upcoming games right now are all using UE4 from KH3, VIIR, The Quiet Man, Battalion etc... Luminous is not the current engine UE4 is the former is going to remain just what it is a XV exclusive engine.

As good as this is, why not I-VI? Those aren't the most demanding of games, I'm sure they can port them rather quickly, even if they decide to bring the PSP versions.

I could see FF 1-3 come to the Online subscription service, and the others when (if) they add SNES games, too. So wait and see I'd say

I'd rather play this FFVII than the episodic HD Remake they're working on. It's going to be a Final Fantasy kind of year in 2019.

I came to say this. I'm on record saying that I'll take a spruced up port of the original game than the dumpster fire they're working on, any day. Sounds like I'm getting it.

The Switch I get these games coming to, but Xbox One makes little sense without a very sizeable moneyhatt.

FFXV and FFXIII trilogy sells like 5 to 1 in PlayStations favor... JRPG gamers just do not seem to reside on Xbox in the way they do elsewhere.

Microsoft must be paying them for them in order for these to be even remotely viable. Even if so, it is a smart acquisition. MS is trying to break the trending culture of them only catering to a few genres.

This are not brand new games, this are ports, and ports are cheap, they will easily make profit even on Xbox.

This should've happened decades ago.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I'm a Dragon Quest guy who has never played any FF apart from I, but I'm keen as hell for these. Looking forward to the mystery dungeon one in particular.

I never played XII. Might play through X again too. Unsure if I'll play X-2 though... The ending of X was great and made sense.

Square Enix overload in that Direct.
