Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo's 2019 looks pretty impressive already

They won't port 3D World because there's already a 3D Marion on the Switch.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

That's a lot of first-party content to look forward to already imo. What do you think?

I'm looking forward to these three for sure.

Because I already answered you!? Again, Smash is game similar to MK and now Splatoon, one IP per generation where they have huge focus on online and where Nintendo keep supporting game with updates through almost hole life span. SM3DW and generaly 3D Zelda are opoosite games, we can easily have multiply 3D Mario and 3D Zelda game per platform. I 100% certain that Switch will get onother new 3D Mario and 3D Zelda, while no way it will get onother Splatoon and onother Smash game, maybe just onother MK game simple because MK8D is a Wii U game.

Lol, almost every N64 games uses N64 analog stick, point that Sunshine was set on Delphino island doent meant that game cant be ported to onother platform, most Nintendo Wii games use Wii Remote same like Zeldas on Wii, what you wrote for Super Mario Odyssey can be said for almost any other Nintendo Switch game. Every game that you mention could easily be ported and work on other platforms, for instance Mario Galaxy works on Nvidia Tegra Tablet.

No, 3D Mario is game like any other game, its huge and popular IP, but there is nothing about 3D Mario that point it needs to be bound for one platform espacily today when Nintendo massively porting games, and you already have example of Mario 64 DS.

You clearly missed my point but nevermind. And the fact that you can't name one 3D Mario game ported to an other home console proves also my point. It's never gonna happen, 3D Mario games aren'ts like other games.

NO, I get your point, I just disagree with you and I think your arguments are weak, saying that 3D Mario is like Smash doesn't make any sense, or that 3D Mario games are bound just for one platform is also pointless espacily in generation where Nintendo porting almost everything good from Wii U.

3D World is very different type of game than Odyssey, 3D World is great local 4-player co-op game and you could said perfect fit for Switch, also gameplay is quite difrent with fixed camera, Odyssey is single player focused game and more like adventure. They could co-esist on Switch without problem because they are different enough.

Also, dont forget that Captain Toad is already ported to Switch, and Captain Toad has same engine like SM3DW, so that means higher chances for SM3DW port.

That new Game Freak game also looks pretty interesting. When was the last time they made something else than Pokémon?

Just to add some more wood to the fire, I blatently admit, I'll drop in here to say Super Mario Galaxy was also released on WiiU.

And since then two other games, they do non-Pokemon quite regularly: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8885245

Heck even if some games slip to 2020, it isn't inconceivable we'd here from more. After all, there are teams who do more games yet accounted for.

For instance, Camelot the sports people. It doesn't take the full team to keep Aces updated, and similarly I could see T.K decide they want to keep a 'Nintendo Warriors' stream going and see them play with another franchise.

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

That doesn't make any sense. Many people who didn't own a WiiU or want to play it on a mobile device or want to play it in Full HD are willling to pay for it (even if they already played through Super Mario Odyssey).

Why shouldn't Nintendo get their money with an easy port? It's a Win-Win situation for Nintendo and Mario fans.

And the same goes for a port/remaster of Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 to the Switch.

In the past the rule was also one Zelda game per console... eventuelly the WiiU ended up with Wind Waker HD, Twilight Princess HD and Breath of the Wild. Thanks to BC you could also play the older Wii versions of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess on the WiiU. The Virtual Console added the original The Legend of Zelda, Zelda 2, A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, The Minish Cap, Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks to the WiiU, making it the ultimate Zelda machine.

I'm expecting similar support of older Mario games for the Switch in the next years.

I don't know why "One Smash/MK and Splatoon per generation" makes sense to you but no 3D Mario games.

3D Mario games are built around the console itself. Super Mario 64 was built around the N64 analog stick, Sunshine was set on Delphino island, shaped like a dolphin, because the gamecube's project name was Dolphin, Super Mario Galaxy's gameplay is build around the Wiimotes and Super Mario Odyssey is meant to be playable with the joycons and to be played in short sessions, to fit the hybrid form of the console.

A 3D Mario game is the way Nintendo tell us how he wants us to play games on its console.

Super Mario 64 was ported to the DS. Seems that the N64 gamepad wasn't that essential to prevent a port to a newer popular Nintendo device.

Super Mario Galaxy was officially ported to the Nvidia Shield console.  Seems that the Wiimotes weren't that essential to gameplay to prevent a port to the new Nintendo partner. Super Mario Galaxy 2 will probably follow.

The Switch is currently very popular and every Nintendo software seems to sell very well, no matter if they are new or older. The Joy-Cons are very flexible in their use with their 2 analog sticks and many buttons and motion detection and touch screen input via the main device... almost if Nintendo planned from the start to make the Switch ultimately port-friendly to all games of all their previous consoles. The Switch input possibilities include NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii (thanks to motion sensors) and WiiU games.

No it wasn't. You could play it thanks to the backward compatibility, and thus the virtual console, but there isn't a Wii U release of Super Mario Galaxy (remastered or port).
