Forums - General Discussion - Minorities are taking away my job opportunities

So because of legal obligations I can't give information on specifics (what movie, what studio, etc.). But today, just a few hours ago, I got a call that I wasn't accepted for the role I auditioned for. I was more than sure I was going to get it ... my family is well known in the industry (though in a more behind-the-scenes sense), and my late father had a lot of connections. I believed the legacy would be respected.

I went to my first ever audition thinking it would go well. This wasn't a high-level production, so I didn't expect to be waved off so easily. I entered the waiting room, and there was only one person there, a black dude with shades. I was super early in an effort to try and make a good impression, so it was not surprising that it was mostly empty. I sat down on the couch, the guy next to me was sitting on a chair diagonal to me.

Already I noticed a few things were off. On the refreshments table in front of me was a huge bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken, with bowls of mashed potatoes and gravy. There was watermelon slices, and cheap plastic cups of Kool-Aid already poured. I found this a little odd, but didn't think much of it. It was weird, but whatever. The guy sitting on the chair to my right diagonally took of his sunglasses. He like, messed around with his eyes, like he got something in them or something. He then got called in, thirty minutes later he left.

He came first, he went first, I thought that was fair. But then I waited about another hour following that, and more guys started to show up. All of them were black, and all of them went before me, even though I was there first. After a while my ass hurt from sitting so much, I had to stand up and walk around the tiny room. Eventually the fried chicken was gone! I didn't even get any. I felt like I was in limbo, or purgatory, whatever, I think those are the same thing. Anyways, my time had finally come and I did a great job. My friend who knew the people in the casting team told me himself that others told him that I was great, so that's how I know I was. And we didn't even like each other that much so it was probably true.

But then today I got a call that I was not hired for the job. They didn't tell me who was, but after cooling down for ten minutes with a tissue I called up my friend. He said the guy who was hired, but I didn't know who he was so I just asked if he was black. He said yes. The crazy thing about this is that the role is for a WHITE CHARACTER who was WHITE in the novel. Not only did I not get cast but they didn't even care about the sauce material! It couldn't have possibly been my resume either, I was talented, I had charisma. For fuck's sake I even picked the special folders they like!

I've made fun of race relations in the U.S. before. I've made fun of people for being Anti-SJW or for being paranoid about SJWs before. Hell I even joked that I was black a couple of times. Not anymore. I finally fucking get it. What I've learned is that they don't hire based on talent. They don't hire based on experience. They don't hire based on charisma, or intelligence, or likability. They hire based on your PIGMENT.

If this doesn't set a precedent for a new low in American history, I don't know what will ...

But... I thought you were a minority?

No like I said in my post I just said I was black to make fun of Rol. But now I wish I actually was, maybe I would have gotten the part!

Reading your story brought a smile to my face. Knowing that you aren't black means that I don't need to leave our Discord server.

...

You still have that quote in your signature, right?

That's racist.

Do you have a bet with Rol?

New low in American history..... riiiight.

New low? Maybe he was just more talented than you and they decided to cast him?

Well apparently they liked the black guy more? You sound really narcissistic about your own acting skills.

Did you guys even READ? The role is for a character who was originally white! I'm not saying they werent talented but I was definitely the most suited for the role (and honestly probably the best actor).

I'm curious how old you are, I feel like from what I read, you have alot of life experience still to gain.
