Forums - Gaming Discussion - EA censors "white man" and "DLC" in Battlefield V

That may be true if DLC was censored with 'free' prefacing it also.

Based on what?

The fact that DLC is censored, and free DLC is not, isn't proof of anything.  Neither of us know exactly how their censoring software works.

There are some ways of censoring words that could lead to odd words being censored like that.

EA said today that DLC is not supposed to be censored.  Do you really think they would purposefully censor DLC and hope no one would find out?

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that a racist black guy calling somebody a "white n***a" (asterisks removed) in the chat isn't magically gonna go uncensored just because he put the word "white" in front of it, censoring software doesn't work like that unless you specifically program it not to censor words with certain queries involved.

Also, "white man" being censored while "black man" or "Asian man" isn't and "DLC" being censored while "free DLC" isn't given EA's track record of DLC and past statements involving this game would be waaaaaaaaay too much of a coincidence. You're really gonna take them at their word after their "sense of pride and accomplishment" spiel?

Hope sales tank like todays comic books, since Marvel started cattering SJWs in their comics, sales went downhill. They still haven't realized SJWs don't buy comics or play games.

Jesus christ, people. Put down your pitchforks and think for a second. Just because you have your agenda all planned out doesn't mean you have to throw common sense out the window. You don't have to wedge EVERYTHING into your preconceptions.

Anyone willing to be even mildly objective can see that there is a very good possibility that we're looking at a filter error.

Also, the OP should have EA's response so that people can judge for themselves with all available information at their disposal.

That's two very specific filter errors. If it were just white an I'd belive it but free dlc too. Not a chance in hell that isn't manual.

There are a bunch of words being censored that make no sense no matter how hard you try to fit them into your agenda.  Go ahead and explain to me how it's logical to censor "defend" in a war game.  There are words that are usually censored that are being missed.  You're telling me that there is no chance of an error?

The funny thing here is that I'm not a fan of EA and the way they've handled this game.  However, I'm not going to stop using common sense because of that.  Looks to me like a lot of people are believing what they want to believe and don't even care if they might be wrong.

Even with all that aside, there is no logic behind censoring "white man."  That would mean that DICE is trying to protect white men from being the target of insults from people who say "white man" in a really mean way.  How hard is to to say, "hm, you know, that makes no damn sense."

Makes sense. I wouldn't want to be part of an online community that uses harmful and non-ubiquitous words like "white man." Now I can let my children play this game with no worries.

Also why would they censor the word "DLC"? What if people are curious if the eventual DLC is worth buying? Do they have to call it something else when discussing it now?

The funny thing is if you put the word free infront it's ok.

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

Who says the thing with DLC is a filter error? Why do you cling on something so flimsy?

Ever thought about the possibility that you can mix both an automatic algorithm and static definitions? In fact that's exactly how pretty much every algorithm in the real world works.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

If I type "stupid motherfucker" in the chat instead of just simply "motherfucker", I'm pretty sure it's still gonna be censored.

Just sayin'.

Again, filters don't work like that unless you program them to.

Every time i come to this site I feel like most y'all are just regressing further and further into giant snowflakes who want cry SJW at everything. Glad the entertainment industries is progressing and paying you no mind.

Yeah, go ahead and throw your core fanbase under the bus to appeal to non-gamer SJWs. Oh yes, because it worked so well for Marvel Comics and Hyper Universe... oh wait!

Just like it's working sooooo well for EA with BFV pre-orders lagging their competition by 85%! Get woke, go broke.
